This oil free, space saving vertical, wheeled portable aircompressor from Porter-Cable provides 25 gallons of airtank reserve at a 150 PSI maximum pressure which provides 71 percent more usable air over traditional 125 PSI maximum air pressure units operating tools that require 90 PSI. With a pressure switch controller that automatically restarts the motor at the 120 PSI falling tank pressure point you get this quicker motor/pump operation and bonus air delivery. Supports all nailing applications and moderate + air tool usage of most air tools. High air flow regulator, high flow quick coupler two gages are also included. Reserve airtank is ASME approved.
found in C6110's reviews: Excellent Compressor - Great compressor and design. Works well for inflating and small air tools.) Quieter than expected and vertical design takes up less space than old horizontal model. Not an issue if compressor is located out of the way and longer hose used.

found in CPF6025VP's reviews: Some problems, poor service policy, impressive specs - When I unpacked it and bolted the wheels on, I discovered that the bracket which holds the wheels on had been welded onto the tank crooked. Hopefully rest of the tank was welded with a bit more care. You pay the shipping(not cheap on a 130 pound compressor). Great long lasting compressor - This compressor is an ease to work with. Nice and fast for a tank of this size.

Maximum air power! More delivered air (CFM) gives you the power to do the job right and in less time.
found in SS3L3's reviews: A cheap way to get more CFM... but its still cheap. - This aircompressor is identical to my Ingersoll Rand SS3L3 compressor that I purchased through Northern Tool in the early summer of 2005. This is the first aircompressor that I have ever owned, so it was a learning experience from the start.
It is recommended that you purchase the IR SS3L3 startup kit as the compressor is delivered to you without any oil in it. When I plugged in the compressor to test it out, I found that the motor continued to run even as the gauge on the tank passed 130 psi. As it creeped closer to 135 psi (the limit printed on the tank), I pulled the plug.
I ran the compressor off and on for several months without any major issues. a little bit of die grinding, I rotated the tires on my car using the impact wrench and air ratchet, I used it to blow dust off my work bench and check the air in my tires on a routine basis. I bought the compressor because I have several project cars, and I would like to begin the serious work of restoring them. Recently, I have been looking at plans for a sandblasting cabinet, and I am starting to doubt that this compressor will stand up to the task of sand blasting for extended periods. Things I have learned about the compressor since its purchase that have led me to this conclusion:
1. (I swap between my compressor and my dryer on the only 230V outlet in my house). This borderline false advertising is similar to peak and RMS power ratings in audio amplifiers, though it is fairly standard operating procedure to rate motors in this fashion. Though it is quieter than a direct drive unit like the 30 gallon compressors sold at most hardware stores, 3450 RPM is still quite fast. With the pulley ratios, the compressor crank spins at 1200 RPM. Heavier duty systems might have the AC motor running at 1200-1750 RPM with the compressor running at ~700 RPM or less, resulting in a much quieter setup. There is apparently no available rebuild kit for the compressor itself, according to the local IR dealer, though they do sell gaskets and the oiling kit. It is a two cylinder, single stage compressor. The "valves" in the head are what I believe are called "reed valves", which are simply spring loaded "fingers" that cover holes in the cylinder head, and they move with the blowing/sucking of air as the pistons move in the cylinders (no mechanical actuation of the valves). The compressor can run fairly hot, especially when pressurizing the tank from zero pressure. I would like to add an intercooler in line to the tank as the compressed air is quite hot, and I think the compressor itself could use some more cooling. I bought some copper to fab up a larger heat sink for the compressor housing, though I haven't made it yet. The flywheel on the compressor is designed to move air over the unit, but I still think the design needs improvement. There is a flimsy petcock drain valve in the bottom of the tank that is difficult to access. I have not yet installed a regulator and filter in the system, and I haven't checked how much condensation has collected in the tank. (Note: Added 10/10/06 - I added a Swagelok right angle 1/4" male NPT to 1/4" tube adaptor to this drain orifice, then plumbed 1/4" tubing out from under the tank and connected this to a ball valve. This makes me want to install a condensor between the compressor and tank). Copper tubing is used to route compressed air from the compressor to the tank, and I think some improvements could be made there, as well. The oil reservoir drain plug is on the bottom of the crank case, however this is no practical way to drain the oil without spilling it all over the top of the tank. One could remove the compressor to change the oil, but a better soultion would be to insert a ball valve in the oil drain plug for easy draining. I suspect that the threading on the oil plug is standard NPT like all of the other fittings on the tank - possible 1/4" or 3/8".
IR sells the SS5L5, which uses the same 60 gallon tank, but a 5 HP split phase 3450 RPM motor running a different two piston single stage compressor.
My biggest complaints are the use of the split phase motor, the relatively cheap design of the compressor (aluminum rods and lack of rod bearings), the flimsy pressure switch, and the cheap fittings used all over the machine. I will continue to use this unit for some time, but I am already considering either building my own low RPM, true 4-5 HP aircompressor from various parts suppliers, or just purchasing a new one from a company like Eaton Compressor. Like houses, I think good advice for someone looking to buy an aircompressor is "buy the most you can afford". I for one like the idea of a compressor running at a quiet 750 RPM at a mere 73 dBa, as opposed to my high revving 1200 RPM SS3L3.
(Note: Added 10/10/06 -- As far as safety is concerned, this item will never blow up and injure anyone - IR has installed safety valves all over this tank as the other reviewer mentioned. Meanwhile, my criticisms of this unit are based on what I'd like to see in a compressor, that is all. Perfect -
I have owned this aircompressor for about two years now and it was worth every penny. The compressor is excellent, So far I have run my compressor about 100 hours thus far. It has always supplied my with an ample amount of air when using air tools except if I run my impact for 10 minuets continuously then it drops to 70 psi. I would recommend this compressor to any one with out hesitation. I turned it on two years ago and it has been on ever sense it kicks on about every hour because there is a leak I have not fixed in my air system. Yes it puts of a lot of heat but if you do the math PV=nRt you will see that a lot of heat is given off compressing that much air. Also in response to the allegations that the tank was going to over pressurize If the switch failed and it continued to run there is a spring loaded safety valve on the power switch on the compressor so it is not possible to over pressurize it, mine hits about 133 before it kicks off.

found in CPFC2TV3525VP's reviews: Good Compromise - The compressor is very easy to set up and use. The space-saving vertical design and wheels works great for me. The compressor has a very solid feel and is very heavy. They are adequate for moving the compressor around the garage, but would not work well on stairs or outside. In my opinion the compressor is loud, particularly if you are in a closed room. However the rumble of the motor is much more tolerable than the high pitched whine of some of the other compressors I checked out. Quiet, portable and powerful - I shopped around for weeks before I decided on this compressor. I wanted a compressor for home that I could run an impact on or a DA sander but I also wanted something portable that I could run a nailer on. I had planned to buy two compressors but this compressor will do both. We all know that pancake and especially stacked tank portables are great but they are also noisy, relativley expensive for a good one and really ought to have wheels in addition to the handle, because carrying one is a joke. This compressor is surprisingly quiet and is quite powerful. The two stage allows it to provide the power of a compressor twice it's capacity and uses twice the horsepower.) So if you're buying one for home or stationary use that will be run a lot, look at buying a 2-stage 240 volt compressor, it will save you money when the electric bill comes. Recovery time is what you should look for and don't expect any compressor to keep quiet for long when you're running a continuous tool like a sander. Something to consider if you're serious about buying this compressor is look at the CPFC2TV3520WK, it's the same compressor with a 20 gallon horizontal tank but it has a four port remote regulator which might be of use or interest to you. I'll post again in the future once I've used the compressor more and know it a little better. I would recommend renting a compressor or borrowing one from someone who has it prior to making your decision if you haven't used them enough to know what you want from one. Oops, where's that quality control? - I'd love to review this product but when it was assembled, they cross threaded the tube that connects the compressor unit with the storage tank. A lot of bang for your buck... - I got this compressor for Christmas from my dad. We looked at many compressors before purchasing this one. This 2 stage 2-cylinder rig can really put the air out and what surprised me the most is how quiet it is. I am also extremely pleased with the performance that this compressor has. I currently run air impacts, butterfly impacts, air ratchets, air hammers, multiple die grinders, a right angle grinder, engine degreaser and have never come close to taxing the limits. It has plenty of air to spare. I leave the compressor always plugged in so it can recover whenever need. I would say it pretty much just sits in the corner and does its job with no tending to besides an occasional tank draining and filter check. I highly recommend this to anyone doing serious work with a compressor. great choice for general purpose home use - The two-stage compressor means that it is quieter than a single-stage unit, and should mean better reliability as well.
I've used some fairly demanding air tools with it, such as air drills and die grinders. The motor comes on early and stays on under continuous air drill usage, but it manages to keep up.
The only thing I don't like about it is the process for depressurizing the tank.

Size of the tank is fine, but its really about the horsepower of the motor and amount of air motor can put out so that you don't have long period of motor running in order to build a pressure in the tank. This 3hp engine is much better than large size tank with 2hp engine. This Portable Compressor is Rugged and Well Built ! - Surprised and impressed! I looked at Home Depot and Lowes and decided to order this aircompressor to save the Tax and the trouble of bring it home. )
Pluged it in, It filled the 4 Gallon tank in 44 Seconds. Thats starting with the tank completely empty.
Looking at the other brands of portable compressors I really like how well this one is built. Great little aircompressor - This aircompressor is great! This unit is fairly quiet, compact, light enough to be toted around if needed, no oil needed and very powerful. This unit replaced a 12 year old 15 gallons, 2 hp, craftsman rolling aircompressor and all I can say is that I wish I purchased this unit sooner. When comparing the 2 units the Porter Cable is definitely stronger, the only difference being that when you are running any tools the compressor is running almost non stop compared to a unit with a larger tank that does not have to refill as fast. I consider this a plus though, because I always drain the tank after each use and it does not take as long to release all the air. At this price range there are many choices out there for anyone looking for a compact aircompressor but when you start to compare CFM ratings @ 90 PSI this one has the highest ratings. Frustrated with the technical assistance - I received my compressor and unpack it. When I turn it on, the tank pressure gauge wasn't working. I went there with the compressor and they took it and said to leave it there for one day, and on the next day they should call me to pick it up. But, after 3 days, they still didn't have changed the little tank pressure gauge, and they said "we are waiting for Porter Cable to send this piece to us, you have to wait until next week". Ohhh! Come on!!! I can't believe that! The most common and cheap part of a compressor they don't have in stock!? Is that kind of technical assistance we have from Porter Cable when we just buy a brand new compressor and need it working??? I think I should send it back and bought another from another company, because, now, I'm just waiting and I can't do my job. Great General Purpose Portable Compressor - I bought this compressor to run nail guns, air sand and spray paint.) The tank pressure gauge is just behind it. This regulates the pressure that reaches the hoses, not the tank pressure. It is also handy to limit the pressure to safe levels for your various air tools. I can easily carry it with one hand from the tank side. It is not as loud as large upright compressors, but it does make a fair amount of noise, although not as much as I expected. I use it with a Souix air sander and it does run longer when I am working. If you take on a tractor trailer, get a bigger compressor. Plenty of Power to Offer...but it needs plenty, too. - I tried the compressor on an undedicated 15 amp circuit, and it immediately blew the switch every time. I also learned (the hard way, of course) that if you are using the compressor with a 50' extension chord (with too high a guage) on a 20 amp circuit, the pump will not get enough electricity to pump air after cutting-in when the tank pressure drops to 110 psi (the specified cut-in pressure) - the pump will start pumping, but quickly stop and you'll hear the motor straining until it blows the 20 amp circuit, too. Porter Cable told me that if I plan to use even a 20 amp circuit with an extension chord, I need to use a 12 (preferable 10) gauge extention chord (ideally 25' rather than 50'), or the pump won't get enough juice to cut-in properly and refill the tanks. It's cheaper, my new Porter Cable friends say, to buy more air hose than the right gauge extention chord - Ah, such knowledge I'm gaining. Sadly, the compressor arrived with an air intake filter housing badly bent downward (done apparently at the factory, as the box from Amazon wasn't damaged), so I couldn't remove the air filter. AND, the drain valve (to drain water from the bottom of the tank) would not completely close allowing lots of air to excape from the tank. In my chats with an Amazon tool sales rep, and later with a Porter Cable tech rep (to help me unravel the compressor's electrical-needs mysteries), both Companies quickly and nicely insisted on sending me a new air intake filter housing and a new drain valve (I guess I'm getting two of each?) - no questions asked. The machine is fairly loud, but it only takes my pump about 6 seconds to refill the tanks from the 110 psi cut-in pressure to the specified 135 psi cut-out pressure. I figure the noise level goes hand-in-hand with the added power this compressor offers - power I think I need. This is a SERIOUS compressor - Desipite its small size and minimal airtank capacity, this is a very serious commercial duty aircompressor. AC induction motors like the ones found in this compressor are far superior to brushed AC motors found in most "consumer" aircompressors. Because of this motor, the compressor is able to deliver air flows similar to larger 15 gallon compressors. Quite frankly, I'm amazed that anyone can sell this compressor for such a low cost. Aside from air sanding or heavy duty HVLP paint spraying, there is nothing that I cannot do with this compressor. First Impressions... - It only took 3-days for my new compressor to arrive at my doorstep! And best of all, the shipping was free! I immediately unpacked the unit and checked it over. I followed the manufacturer's advice and went through the 15-minute break-in period leaving the tank drain valve open while the motor was running. When I shut the valve after 15-minutes of run time, it only took a few seconds to fill the twin tanks to 130 p. Although I haven't used my compressor yet, first impressions are everything. This unit is compact, relatively light weight, fairly quiet, and fills up extremely quick! I can't wait to attach my air nailer and get to work!!!. Darn Good Little Compressor - Short and sweet - this compressor delivers on its promises - it is easy to use, easy to break-in, easy to maintain, and you can't beat the duel air hose inlets. I have found both of the built in pressure gauges to be accurate, and the oil-free motor is quieter than other compressors I have used (although it still makes a good bit of noise). To me, that's portable - I can understand how that would not be the case with everyone, but my experience leads me to believe that this compressor has a very good weight-to-horsepower-to-air storage capacity ratio. Also, this thing is built like a tank - strong welds, a great 'roll-cage' and tough rubber feet. Excellent compressor - quietest I've used in its category - I am never able to live without a good aircompressor. I use them for a variety of tasks from simple blowing to nailers and air hammers. As smaller aircompressors go, this one really delivers a nice, steady pressure for quite a long time.
Normally I like to blow through my air gun at about 50psi to clear sawdust. Blowing air at that pressure really drains a small compressor fast, but this one really handles it well and gives me quite a bit of extra time due to the fact that the motor really kicks in quickly and efficiently to keep the pressure up. In fact, from empty it only takes about a minute to fill the tank, which is nice.
I couldn't outpace the compressor with a single nailer.
The two air ports is really nice in one this size because I can put the compressor underneath my workbench and mount a static line on my workbench for easy access anytime while leaving the other open for longer hoses. These size compressors can make an INCREDIBLE amount of noise, but the Porter-Cable 3hp 4 gallon side stack really keeps the noise level at a minimum.
Accessories are included for convenient use right out of the box. Compressor offers automatic shut-off feature. Bonus nailer kit is included with a 2 in 1 1-1/4" brad nailer and 1-1/4" stapler. The sturdy handle allows for comfortable handling and simple storage. 1 Gallon tank offers additional stored air capacity. Tank eliminates pulsations caused by piston action.
found in FP202899AV's reviews: handy for small jobs - The small one gallon tank is great for small jobs around the house and is pretty light to carry. Dont Buy this!!! - Still this thing didnt help me @ all, in fact it managed to drain any available air i had in my tire out. Problems:: 1) Never built up enough pressure in tha tank to inflate tires 2) Couldnt even maintain airpressure, airpressure dropped dramatically when attempting to fill tires. 3) It actually aided in draining remaining air out of tires. 4) My car is really screwed now, since i only have 17lbs of air in 1 tire.
