Remember when you were a kid on Christmas morning, with a pile of new toys to play with--but no batteries? Well, Porter-Cable's not going to let that happen to you again. Here they've packaged their hard-working 18-gauge brad nailer with its power source--a 15 amp, 120-volt, 6-gallon compressor driven by a 2-horsepower oil-free motor. Fill up the nailer with standard 18-gauge brads from 3/4 inch to 2 inches long, hook up, and you're ready to install baseboards, chair rails, moldings, even make quick work of those wooden craft items like country shelves and vegetable bins. The die-cast body weighs only 2-3/4 pounds, and a removable rubber nose won't leave a mark on your workpiece. There's a handy depth adjustment for setting the drive depth of the nail and a directional exhaust port. The kit comes with quick connects, 25 feet of 150 psi air hose and thread sealing tape.

It's about time somebody came out with one of these--hats off to Wagan! It's small, light, inexpensive, and needs only a 12-volt power supply. This is what we want to have in the car the next time the stars are dim and the tire goes flat. As small as it is, the Wagan will fully inflate a vehicle tire as well as the little stuff like basketballs, beach floats, and inflatable boats. We love the peace of mind it offers and the minimal space it takes up in the trunk. We doubt you'll be able to find a more versatile compressor for the price. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

found in MAC2400's reviews: Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. It had all the features I wanted oil lube, low rpm, lower decibel rating(quiet) and decent cfm rating. After receiving and testing I do believe the 4.2 cfm @ 90 rating is stretched a little. Even with weight I was quite pleased with the compressor but my buying experience was much less. My first compressor from Amazon had a broken plastic motor cover which wasn't caused by shipping damage. There seems to be a wide spread problem with some of these and also the mac700's. I sent it back and Amazon had a replacement back to me in 3-4 days, Quick!, but that compressor also was damaged. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressorand beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. I called Makita and they would not cover damage but could send me the control panel for $45. I was told to contact Amazon and after a week of waiting on Amazon, I was told that they could not send part (it would void warranty if replaced) and they were not going to send a replacement compressor. I packaged up the second compressorand sent back. I wasn't going to order another brandcompressor from Amazon as I didn't want the hassle if damaged again. looking at Ridgid as I really didn't want a Dewalt or the Porter Cable pancake compressor which they carried. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brandcompressor that weighs 70-80lbs.
Overall the MAC2400 looked and sounded like a good compressor for the short time I had it but makes me wonder how well they are built, with so many problems between packaging and broken parts inside cartons not caused by shipping damage on the Mac700's and a few of these. If you are not in a hurry for a compressorand/or don't care about cosmetic condtion out of the box (if damaged) then Amazon is the place to buy with their best price. I you need one right away and are particular about quality, I would seriously look elsewhere to purchase. I have a feeling I wouldn't have had these problems if ordered elsewhere and paid a little more. Saving money is great, but in my case the savings were not worth the time wasted and the hassles, now that I look back. The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - I do not want to repeat what all the other reviews have said. This is a quality compressor. In this day and age of plastic junk, I am surprised some of the reviews complained about wieght. The handle is in the center, so carrying it is well balanced.
The compressor is just as quiet as others report. The start up instructions are easy and you are up and running in 20 minutes.
Why did I get this compressor? In sum, (1) I wanted a GOOD quality tool that was not Chineese junk, (2) I wanted at least 4 cfm for tools and (2) I did not want to spend a fortune. There seems to be several classes or levels of compressor in the lower price range. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. There are some Dewalt Emglo and others I looked at in this range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors. The Dewalt is an excellent compressor, but you cannot use it next to you in an exclosed shop -- its too loud.
So, I wanted a quality tool and one that could live in the shop next to me. It is a very well made little compressor. The fit and finish is great. It has a dual personality: it works and looks great in the corner of the shop AND is perfect for taking to a job site or the back yard.
The compressor seems to live up to its specs. I have easily run 3/8 and 1/2 inch impact wrenches, a brad gun and a finish nail gun, along with blow guns, etc. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate. Then I read the spec for the ratchet and it calls for 4. SO, you do have to watch the cfm ratings on tools: I am sure a 8 cfm jitterbug sander will not work.
I have not owned a compressor is many years. I looked long and hard for the best of all worlds: quality, size, price, and cfm. As an advanced and serious home workshop dude, this review is not written for the pros. But for a serious homeowner that appreciates quality tools and needs a general purpose compressor, I believe I found the perfect compressor.

Even more affordable than the brand-new version, this reconditioned kit is in like-new condition, though some components may contain cosmetic blemishes.
First, the compressor: The unit blasts out an impressive 150 maximum psi for driving more nails than traditional 135 psi compressors. Running on standard household current, this 120-volt electric compressor also cranks out 2.6 standard cubic feet per minute at 90 psi for quick compressor recovery time and faster nailing. Weighing just 34 pounds, the compressor is easy to transport from project to project. And, two quick-connect couplers let the compressor power two nail guns to at the same time.
Now for the guns: The kits BN125A nailer uses standard 18-gauge brads from 5/8- to 1-1/4 inches long. And, the included FN250B nailer uses standard 16-gauge finish nails from 3/4 to 2-1/2 inches long. Nailers are equipped with special hardened driver blades for maximum durability and reliability. A strong and lightweight die-cast aluminum body means maximum durability and reliability. The finish nailer also features an adjustable depth-of-drive and a non-marring nose tip. Olson

At just a foot high and less than two feet wide out of the carton, this compressor was quite a bit smaller than we expected, so to be fair, we quickly lowered our expectations. The joke was on us, though, because this little powerhouse just doesnt quit, and we learned that you cant judge a compressor by its size. Emglos half-century in the compressor business is evident in this model, and with a couple of small exceptions (well get into that in a minute), we dont think anyone could make a finer piece of air power. DeWalt/Emglos great new roll-cage shape protects your investment in the shop, in the truck and at the job site, and the gauges are easier to read than many weve squinted at over the years. It weighs in at around 60 pounds, and the way the handles designed, you can carry it much like a suitcase without overexertion. To let out any moisture thats accumulated, its just an easy turn of the ball-valve tank drain, then just wrap the cord on its holder and youre ready to go. Now, this may be a plus or a minus in your book, but we liked the fact that the compressor is factory set to power on at 100 psi an+d shut off at 120 psi, and the cycle time was under 15 seconds. We didnt find it unusually loud, but were given to wearing hearing protection with tools such as this one anyway (and we hope you are, too.) It has air aplenty for two nailers at once, and with that fast recovery, the job will get done in no time.
In balance, this is one of the best compressors weve seen for the size, power, ruggedness and incredible portability it offers. Heres to a great pairing of two great toolmakers.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

found in D55155's reviews: Paradox - I just pulled the compressor out of the box and was mightly impressed. It filled the tank quickly and quietly. At this point I was ready to give it the Five Star rating. Other tools - A lot of folks are rating this unit against nail guns. However, I use it primarily with other air tools including an impact wrench. I was a little worried about the 4 gallon reserve tank handling my impact wrench air volume which is the most common tool I use for odd jobs. But I can say it stands up very well to heavy use with other tools. Yes! - This is to second everything Curtis Cordwell says in his earlier review. It is a heavy lugger of a unit, but you will be able to carry it one handed werever you need it within reason. Roll cage works well--behaves well in the back of the pickup and handles well on the floor, and it has good balance at the carry. Ideal compressor for one or two people on cabinet, finish and trim work, or for any work-alone carpenter from framing to finish. Cycles quite a bit, but for its size and power that is reasonable. Very robust; will stand up to a lot of use. I work alone a lot, and I have found that this is all the compressor I need. On the other hand, if I had a crew, I would not worry about this compressor's standing up to their abuse.
