SOOOO QUIET! - This compressor is amazing!! I've opperated many compressors over the years, and this is the quietest, most well built compressor I've seen. The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - The compressor is just as quiet as others report. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors. I chose the Makita over the Dewalt for one reason: quiet. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate. Quiet, fast efficient, well designed - and did I mention QUIET - The only downside I've found is weight, but the quiet and strong construction more than compensate for the added poundage. Very Nice - Oil-lubricated, QUIET, 2. Did I say quiet? The price was right. The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 was that damn air filter bouncing around in the packaging. Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. It had all the features I wanted oil lube, low rpm, lower decibel rating(quiet) and decent cfm rating. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressor and beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brand compressor that weighs 70-80lbs. HEAVY = TOUGH - It is also quiet compared to my old one. A great compressor - It is the most quiet operating twin stack compressor I have used. Mine obviously spent some time on its head in the UPS truck, with the air filter housing digging into the pretty face plate. Good compressor but bad packing - When I got this one it had damage to the front air gauge area from the loose air cleaner banging around free in the box. The unit works really great I have to say! Pumps up quick, its very very quiet and has really good connections and gauges on the front panel. Very pleased - I'm impressed by how quiet it is. It's quieter than my little Honda XR100 dirtbike with stock exhaust pipe. This is my first air compressor, and I just received it yesterday so can't vouch for long-term quality, but I just wanted folks to know that it has ZERO damage. The air filter was packaged in a heavy plastic baggie along with the oil and manual. The thin paper manual has a few indentations from the wingnut on the air filter pressing into it, but the compressor unit itself is showroom clean. |
