At just a foot high and less than two feet wide out of the carton, this compressor was quite a bit smaller than we expected, so to be fair, we quickly lowered our expectations. The joke was on us, though, because this little powerhouse just doesn’t quit, and we learned that you can’t judge a compressor by its size. Emglo’s half-century in the compressor business is evident in this model, and with a couple of small exceptions (we’ll get into that in a minute), we don’t think anyone could make a finer piece of air power. Now, this may be a plus or a minus in your book, but we liked the fact that the compressor is factory set to power on at 100 psi an+d shut off at 120 psi, and the cycle time was under 15 seconds.) It has air aplenty for two nailers at once, and with that fast recovery, the job will get done in no time. What you do want to watch out for, though, is the proximity of the reset switch to parts that get searingly hot while in use.

In balance, this is one of the best compressor’s we’ve seen for the size, power, ruggedness and incredible portability it offers. Here’s to a great pairing of two great toolmakers.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

found in D55155's reviews:
Very Nice Unit - I had a Porter Cable pancake compressor and yes it did roll around in the back of my truck and had a real hard time maintaining pressure when under extreme load such as running my texture gun. I replaced the Porter Cable with the Dewalt and what a difference. It is a fairly hefty unit but it does carry nice due to it's shape.
A pleasure to use - After putting a Porter-Cable pancake unit through its paces for two years, the unit developed an annoying tendancy to run continuously until it was manually shut off. The Porter-Cable service center recommended I continue to use the machine until it completely failed, as servicing it could be cost-prohibitive. The only item I found could use more thought was the routing of the power cable from the switch box to the motor - somewhat vulnerable, yet still protected by the base of the unit.
No bad feelings about P-C products, the pancake compressor just gave up the ghost early and had to be replaced with a more capable unit - so far the Dewalt seems like a super piece.

Perfect compressor for small jobs - This compressor will fill all your needs for small jobs on the worksite. It is flawless for air tools that do not require a large continuous flow of high pressure air. I've used it with a dewalt finishing nailer, brad nailer, air blower, porter cable gravity feed spray gun, and husky cut off wheel. Heavy use of my 4" grinder will cause the motor to be on constantly and air pressure will drop too low to power the grinder at usable rpms.
dewalt has never let me down - most of my tools are dewalt including a assortment of nailers and this compressor.its great!!never short on air supply, even when framing.as for noise, air compressors make noise but this unit is not bad,its a lot nicer on the ears then my 30 gallon unit. the only thing that would make this unit more attractive would be wheels and a self-storing handle like porter cable offers on its single tank compressors, other then that i have no complants.
Good machine, but some packaging and assembly issues - To my dissatisfaction, it arrived with a broken air filter and some loose items rolling around in the air tank. No, it wasn't the air filter parts, it was something metalic actually inside the closed tank! Amazon referred me to DeWalt who referred me to my local service center.

Thanks to Amazon's incredibly fast and hassle-free process for returns, I had my replacement compressor less than a week later. Unfortunately, it too had a broken air filter. But since everything else was fine, I bought a filter locally (DeWalt's replacement has yet to arrive) for $10 and kept the compressor. This was not in the first shipment and is REQUIRED before starting the unit which is something that as a first-time compressor buyer, I would not have known to do.

I recommend this machine but please check over your unit carefully when it arrives and call DeWalt's parts center to get a free replacement filter if that's all you find wrong.

A pleasure to own! -

The biggest complaint I have about other compressors is the portability of them. The sleek design means that parts or not going to get stuck on a pant leg when you pick it up or bash into your kneecap. This helps to center the weight to my body and I can then lug the compressor up several flights of stairs without passing out.

The main reason I bought this unit over cheaper compressors was the recommendation to the brand names of DeWalt and Emglo.

exellent - so far so good, my hot dog arrived defective from the manufacturer, but makita has an excellent warranty on their tools all i had to do was go to their website and locate their nearest service center where in no time they had my compressor running they replaced all parts with geniune makita brand new parts, mine had a short circuit in the motor and they replaced it with a new one, as far as performance excellent, very easy on your ears.
Excellent product - It was shipped without any damage, all parts are present.
Never Learn - Wrong!! Compressor arrived with damage to the shroud and the oil cap. Still working trying to get the parts to repair.
great little compresssor - Mine arrived in perfect condition--no broken parts. Is perfect for use in the garage and airing up tires etc.My handyman is jealous-because my compressor is better than his!.
Always damaged - I had the compressor sent out two times, both times, it arrived damaged.

The compressor looked great, felt great, only wish Makita would have packaged it with more padding. Amazon has been great about both returns, but they won't send me a third compressor. Porter Cable here I come.

Arrived damaged - When I took it in I got the same unenthusiastic treatment; 7-10 days to fix, or an additional 10-14 if they had to order the parts.
Damaged!!! - If it too is damaged, I may invoke the Makita warranty to get replacement parts instead of buying retail.
Another Damaged compressor - Makita service would not replace parts under warranty so I had to send the whole unit back to Amazon.
Great Product....Bad Manual - A well put together compressor that is wonderful for the weekend warrior. This compressor is well built and should last a long time. I assume that Makita used to ship this item with air filter attached because there is no mention in the manual that you have to install the filter. It is not difficult to perform this procedure, mind you, but it would be nice to have it mentioned in the manual under the section on setting up the compressor. C'mon Makita, hire an English editor for a day and update your manual! Oh, and include some pictures with your parts description! In addition, you may mention that you have to remove the temporary oil cap and install the separately packaged cap (also not mentioned in the m.

The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack air compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC2400's reviews:
Makita MAC2400 - Its heavy but so are all the other compressors in its class. I first ordered a reconditioned porter-cable, sent it back and ordered the Makita.
Minnesota Charlie - The compressor arrived in good condition, no damage during shipping. The unit is very quiet compared to my Porter Cable pancake (and I think it is wearing out) and recharges much quicker than the P. I used it with several air tools like ratchet, impact wrench, stapler, finish nailer, and framing nailer. The air cleaner seems loose and doesn't fit as snugly as it should to the motor.
Mac2400 Very Good - I received this compressor in excellent condition - no damage in shipping. The manual could be significantly improved by adding some figures with arrows (I had to refer to the parts exploded diagram several times).
Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. Even with weight I was quite pleased with the compressor but my buying experience was much less.
My first compressor from Amazon had a broken plastic motor cover which wasn't caused by shipping damage.
I sent it back and Amazon had a replacement back to me in 3-4 days, Quick!, but that compressor also was damaged. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressor and beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. I was told to contact Amazon and after a week of waiting on Amazon, I was told that they could not send part (it would void warranty if replaced) and they were not going to send a replacement compressor. I packaged up the second compressor and sent back. I wasn't going to order another brand compressor from Amazon as I didn't want the hassle if damaged again. looking at Ridgid as I really didn't want a Dewalt or the Porter Cable pancake compressor which they carried. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brand compressor that weighs 70-80lbs.

Overall the MAC2400 looked and sounded like a good compressor for the short time I had it but makes me wonder how well they are built, with so many problems between packaging and broken parts inside cartons not caused by shipping damage on the Mac700's and a few of these. If you are not in a hurry for a compressor and/or don't care about cosmetic condtion out of the box (if damaged) then Amazon is the place to buy with their best price.

Compressor great, but has a couple of issues - This is a great compressor and is highly recommended. However, you need to be mindful that this compressor is _very_ heavy. It _is_ quiet, as far as compressors go. It does a particularly poor job of describing how to assemble some of the parts. Perhaps Makita will work on making a manual that matches the quality of the compressor.
Excellent compressor - It is heavy, but so are all of the other compressors in its class. It is QUIET which is something I cannot say for any other compressor in its class. It is also an easy 2 handed carry: By placing each hand on the sides of the tubular frame (not the top where the rubber grip is) I can safely carry this thing up and down stairs. I don't have to worry about the hose getting hung up on protruding parts, nor do I worry about important things like regulators, switches, and filters getting knocked off at the job site.
Best in class - I think it's the best for the following:
A) This compressor just purrs.
B) Over-built compressor compared to tank size - so cycle times are very short - if using light-duty tools, it doesn't run much anyway.
C) No leaks - holds its air pressure seemingly forever when turned off (not that you shouldn't release pressure when done using it).
D) The air filter is a miniature version of an old-time car air filter. The glaring exception is the air filter hanging off the side - I can see this part's going to be replaced at some point when I throw it in a truck bed. In this case, the air filter is just thrown in loose inside the box - mine broke one of the gauge glasses. will send out small parts, but it's a PITA to get a product this good only to have to fix it right out of the box.

The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - This is a quality compressor. The weight comes from steel, not plastic parts.

The compressor is just as quiet as others report.

Why did I get this compressor? In sum, (1) I wanted a GOOD quality tool that was not Chineese junk, (2) I wanted at least 4 cfm for tools and (2) I did not want to spend a fortune. There seems to be several classes or levels of compressor in the lower price range. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors. The Dewalt is an excellent compressor, but you cannot use it next to you in an exclosed shop -- its too loud. It is a very well made little compressor.

The compressor seems to live up to its specs. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate.

I have not owned a compressor is many years. But for a serious homeowner that appreciates quality tools and needs a general purpose compressor, I believe I found the perfect compressor.

Whether you need a compressor for woodworking, painting, caulking or construction, this 5-gallon Makita is a great choice, primarily because of its impressive 6-1/2 cfm at 90 psi on a 13. Built-in Storage Compartment - Conveniently stores air fittings & accessories. Air Hose Wrap - Stores 50 of 3/8" Air Hose with handle folded or upright. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC5200's reviews:
This is a good machine - The compressor is awesome. I also used a cheapo cutting wheel with it, and it actually had enough capacity to do a larger cut, and kept going pretty well when the compressor kicked on. The good news is they can be replaced with minimal effort, and a trip to the mower shop for parts.

I certainly didn't really need this much power, and probably could have made do with one of the Porter Cable combo specials, but I don't like to bring a knife to a gunfight.

If I had to do it again it would not be my first choice. - If I had to do it all over again I would have gone with the Porter Cable.
Excellent product. - I think the unit will handle all of my compressor needs. As far as the wheels go, they look different than the picture in the parts list.

Reliable - From what I'm told, it's hard to wear these out, and if you do, Thomas has the parts to do an easy rebuild.
Compressors/Thomas T-635HD - Light weight, dependable; and quiet! This is what I was looking for in a compressor.and this is why I specifically went looking for Thomas Compressors.Since then I have been waiting for my Emglo to get retired so I too can be a proud owner of a Thomas T-635HD

One thing that I did not like when my Thomas T-635HD arrived was a real lack of directions to assemble the few parts that did need to be put on before operation, but anyone with common knowlege of compressors will figure it out.

This compressor is not intended for HIGH-PRODUCTION ie. if you are in the market for a compressor that is small, light;and dependabley quiet. Your search has ended here !

Don't get fooled by tool packs that come with nail gun, air-hose and compressor in one deal you will be looking for a new compressor soon.
