Makita Delivered - My Makita compressor was delivered 1 day after placing my order - by UPS, no special handling. Instead of a noisly BRBRBRBRAAT that my previous compressor made, this machine just purrs, and conversations can be made without raised voices right on top of the unit. Set-up consists of adding the supplied container of oil, screwing on the chrome air filter, and running the unit for 15 minutes under no load to lubricate cylinder and valves.

You won't find this compressor at Lowe's or Home Depot, and the ones you do see there are physically bigger, not much more capacity, and twice as expensive. The closest unit I could find was on eBay - 4 Gal unit oiled Eaton compressor at $165. versus 151 for the Makita, and has a 15 amp running motor at higher RPM versus Makita's 12 amp at slower RPM (and noise levl is probably higher than Makita). If you have to go to the next notch higher in rated capacity, this one might work for you, But this Makita is going to blow away a lot of the competition.

Misleading specs - I purchased this compressor because of the many good reviews and many mentioned it's not heavy. However, when I tried to carry the compressor which was specified as being 30# it seemed heavier than that. In fact it weighed more than my 5 gal pancake compressor. It's very disappointing since the I purchased the Makita for its lightweight and quiet running. Did Makita alter the compressor in some way that added 20# to it?.
exellent - so far so good, my hot dog arrived defective from the manufacturer, but makita has an excellent warranty on their tools all i had to do was go to their website and locate their nearest service center where in no time they had my compressor running they replaced all parts with geniune makita brand new parts, mine had a short circuit in the motor and they replaced it with a new one, as far as performance excellent, very easy on your ears.
Arrived damaged - I called the Makita service center and explained the problem. I fault Makita for poor packaging and the FedEx gorillas for their mishandling.
Another Damaged compressor - Makita service would not replace parts under warranty so I had to send the whole unit back to Amazon. Also I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with Makita's response to this issue. This will be the last Makita product that I own.
Recieved damaged, Makita service hopeless - Just received this compressor from Amazon/ToolKing.
Called Makita to see if I could get the part under Warranty.
Makita has a problem in the packing of these compressor's which leaves the valve exposed to being crushed inside the container. If you need to put the compressor into service right away, I suggest buying local or
unfortunately another mfg.The compressor is quiet, and seems to
run ok, I have only done the initial start up though.Seems to be a great little compressor. To be fare MAKITA did ship out a new elbow free of charge, I just had to speak with the right "person".(supervisor)The compressor has been in service now for around 8mo.I did solder a new elbow onto a lower area of the check valve which works out better when the compressor rolls on its side.

Makita MAC700 -nice little compressor - I almost didn't order this compressor after reading all the reviews about shipping damage, but mine arrived in perfect shape.

My old pancake compressor finally died. The Makita is a beautiful machine. It is resonably portable and very very quiet for a compressor.

Always damaged - I had the compressor sent out two times, both times, it arrived damaged.

The compressor looked great, felt great, only wish Makita would have packaged it with more padding. I called Makita and they wouldn't send me the broken part unless I went to one of their distributors, and my nearest one is 40 minutes away. Amazon has been great about both returns, but they won't send me a third compressor.

Great Product....Bad Manual - A well put together compressor that is wonderful for the weekend warrior. This compressor is well built and should last a long time. I assume that Makita used to ship this item with air filter attached because there is no mention in the manual that you have to install the filter. It is not difficult to perform this procedure, mind you, but it would be nice to have it mentioned in the manual under the section on setting up the compressor. C'mon Makita, hire an English editor for a day and update your manual! Oh, and include some pictures with your parts description! In addition, you may mention that you have to remove the temporary oil cap and install the separately packaged cap (also not mentioned in the m.
Great compressor for my CD Eraser operation, bearable noise level - I bought a $300 DeWalt compressor and it was very loud. I have a blister packaging machine in the garage that requires compressed air to operate the heat sealing plate. Anyhow, this Makita compressor is used in the garage along with my machine and the noise level is bearable. It is kind of heavy, I wished Makita attached 2 wheels so that it is rollable.
Chalk up one for the good guys! - The other day I watched them throw a box containing a fragile clockwork I had ordered out of the Fed Ex van window onto my concrete driveway!) And with that, it's all Makita quality! Quiet, quick, and built to last. I would chance it again for this compressor.
Very Good Product - Received compressor with great aprehension due to the negative reviews on the shipping "damges". Makita does produce quality products.
makita mac700 2hp air compressor - i purchased this compressor about a year ago from a contractor and need a good durable compressor that i can use everyday.
Damaged!!! - If it too is damaged, I may invoke the Makita warranty to get replacement parts instead of buying retail.
Quiet, Solid, Well Made - I wanted a portable compressor for using my nail guns at old houses, and was ready to replace my antique mastodon shop compressor. I was thinking I may have to buy two compressors, most portable units were too loud for the shop. A few weeks ago I bought a Ridgid brand "oil-free" compressor at Home Depot but it was so loud that I couldn't use it indoors, even covered with a chunk of old carpet. It had good air flow. I looked at the Makita MAC2400, which was a quiet, quality unit, 4. This little Makita weighs only 30 pounds and is amazingly quiet.3 CFM is higher than many of the 75-pound twin stack compressors I saw. To reduce cycling in the shop, I attached my 5-gallon air tank (the kind you use for putting air in a flat tire) to the tank side of the regulator with a T and snap don't use the compressor in the bathtub. It's a large, high quality compressor mounted on a small, portable tank. You'll get really spoiled if you're used to a noisy oil-less compressor.
Smashed crankcase cover - The compressor came by USPS and I had to pick it up from the post office.

Fortunately, Makita head quarter is only about 20 miles from my house. I called the service department and the manager is very friendly to offer for the repair. After waiting for an hour at the service shop, I came out with a working compressor.

I only have had the compressor for 3 days, and, it has been working like they advertised.

shipping problems - Amazon would have taken the compressor back but we didn't want the chance of receiving another broken compressor. The compressor is very quiet and works well so far. Makita needs to something about the shipping carton.
Hot Dogg ! - Makita has put a full size, quiet, oil-lubed motor on a small, lighter weight tank; about 20lbs lighter than the 4 gallon tanks. This makes it great for carrying up stairs and around the job site.
Arrived damaged II1 - As with my first experience the second Makita air compressor arrived in the same condition. The elbow sticks out away from the compressor and it is very fragile and shears off with any type of contact from anything. Can you imagine every time the compressor were to hit anything or tip over the elbow would shear off.

Amazon was slow to ship and I got an email that said they were having trouble shipping the compressor to me. I don't know what kind of trouble but the compressor was sent to me several days after the initial time for shipping.

They are going to come and pick up the compressor and refund my money after they get the compressor.

Great little compressor - I have had this compressor for a couple of weeks now and really like it. I chose this model over the very popular oil-free pancake compressors mainly for it's compact size and low noise level.

The unit is compact, but much heavier duty than similar Cr*ftman compressors I saw at Sears. I did have a problem where the plastic oil filler cap was cracked, but Makita quickly sent me a replacement part under warantee. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for an occasional use compressor and does not want something large or loud.
Compact and well made! - I purchased this unit to replace an oil-less pancake compressor that burned out. The Makita MAC700 is super! It has all the attributes of a large high quality oil-lube compressor. By comparison, the pancake compressor this unit replaced was DREADFULLY loud. In my opinion, the longevity and quietness that an oil-lube compressor offers, far outweighs the time and slight inconvenience of routine maintenance. I love it! If you are looking for a light duty air compressor, I highly recommend the MAC700 Hot Dog Air Compressor.

found in MAC5200's reviews:
job site aircompressor - I bought the Makita 5200 after I had read all the reviews, almost even before it was out of the box the wheels had been replaced (steel core, airtires).

As with all my Makita tools, I'm a happy camper, they perform when they need too.

Thanks to all who wrote reviews, you've helped to make the MAC5200 better, is anyone from Makita taking notice?

I do have a spare set of originals tires (no miles).

If I had to do it again it would not be my first choice. - I too have several Makita tools and have been very happy with them. This does not live up to the Makita name. Will definetly rethink further Makita purchases.
Big disappointment. - I've been a diehard Makita fan for years. However, I was extremely disappointed with this compressor.

This compressor DOES NOT work on most 15 amp circuits; it just hums and sounds as if it's about to burn up.

Overall, I think Makita should go back to the drawing board on this one or risk losing many long-time customers.

This is a good machine -
Miraculously, only the Makita label was scraped when I opened the box.

I'm just happy Makita isn't in the moving business. The compressor is awesome. I also used a cheapo cutting wheel with it, and it actually had enough capacity to do a larger cut, and kept going pretty well when the compressor kicked on. Makita, besides the wheels, the one cool thing that I would like to see on this tool is a hose reel.

POOR PERFORMER PERIOD! - I have been a carpenter for 15 years and have used alot of different compressors. This compressor is far to heavy and loud for the performance it puts out. I have alot of makita tools I am happy with, but this is poorly designed and built tool.
Excellent product. - I think the unit will handle all of my compressor needs. Perhaps Makita has changed them.
MAC5200 - We've used the Makita for two framing nailers, two roof nailers, two trim nailers and combinatons of all three ith no problems.
Hunk of Junk - I figured with the Makita name, I would be buying a quality tool.
Good specs for the price range - 8 amp draw, collapsible cart, oil lubed pump, good air filter and ball valve drain. Did not find many other compressors in this price range with those specs and did not want to pay $600+ for a monster. The manual says it has a 50% duty cycle so if you need a compressor that will run without stopping look elsewhere.

On arrival the box had major rips and crushed areas fairly typical of my experiences of UPS shipment with heavy items. The wheels seem to be ok, if they break they are easy to replace or Makita may have changed their construction.

good performer, but -

I also agree Makita fudges on the specs.

The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack air compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else. High quality, maximum performance - just what you expect from Makita. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC2400's reviews:
Makita MAC2400 - Its heavy but so are all the other compressors in its class. I first ordered a reconditioned porter-cable, sent it back and ordered the Makita. I have a upright 60 gal 3 hp IR that makes more noise than the Makita.
TO HEAVY - I owne several Makita tools and have been quite pleased with there LS 1412 compound miter was and 12v impact driver. So when my old compressor quit I compared new ones and chose this one. I sent it back and recieved the Dewalt D55155 compressor and am very pleaded with it. I do not recomend the Makita for those who move a compressor around a lot but if your a weekend warrior it a excellant choice.
Superb compressor - Makita needs to fire their packing design person. - I am extremely happy with the compressor for general garage, woodworking, and around-the-house duties. Makita makes great tools with horrible packaging. My first unit was badly damaged by a loose air filter (with a thick metal bolt) that was just floating around in the box. I returned it, second unit also damaged in exactly the same spot also by the same free-floating air compressor.

I hate to take a point off of a great product because of packaging, but this is a recurrent theme for most Makita products I have bought.

Makita MAC2400 2.5 HP TwinStack Air Compressor - Air compressor so quiet to operate , I used everyday.
Not for Contractors - Good for bikes basket ball and toy inflation NOT FOR ANY SERIOUS USE Go for the Makita 6.
The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - This is a quality compressor.

The compressor is just as quiet as others report.

Why did I get this compressor? In sum, (1) I wanted a GOOD quality tool that was not Chineese junk, (2) I wanted at least 4 cfm for tools and (2) I did not want to spend a fortune. There seems to be several classes or levels of compressor in the lower price range. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors.

I chose the Makita over the Dewalt for one reason: quiet. The Dewalt is an excellent compressor, but you cannot use it next to you in an exclosed shop -- its too loud. The Makita does both in spades. It is a very well made little compressor.

The compressor seems to live up to its specs. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate. The Makita is rated at 4.

I have not owned a compressor is many years. But for a serious homeowner that appreciates quality tools and needs a general purpose compressor, I believe I found the perfect compressor.

Very Nice - I did a lot of research before settling on this Makita compressor.
The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 was that damn air filter bouncing around in the packaging.

Great little compressor - com about 7-8 months ago and I was replacing a 2 gallon air compressor so this was definitely a step up. MAC2400 is quiet in comparison to some other compressors but it's still pretty noisy. So far so good, I am a Makita fan.
Perfect compressor - quiet & powerful - I needed a compressor to put up a fence, install mouldings and refinish my basement. After a TON of research, I settled on this Makita. Well, it's a compressor and they ARE heavy. Especially a high-quality compressor like this one. Makita also puts a NICE molded rubber handle on it that doesn't shift or move one bit.

Additional comments:

The finned discharge tubing on this thing is fantastic - if you've never had your hand seared like a steak after touching discharge tubing on a compressor, you haven't truly felt pain. I can use the compressor in my basement shop and can barely hear it running on the main level.

If you're looking for a high-quality, oil-lube (don't know why anyone would go for a non-oil unit) compressor that will last for years, look no further.

HEAVY = TOUGH - Great compressor i replaced my PC Pancake with this fine product and i know there is a differance in the size and weight, but i was alittle shocked how heavy it was.

Overall I love it!!! great work Makita!!!.

Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. Even with weight I was quite pleased with the compressor but my buying experience was much less.
My first compressor from Amazon had a broken plastic motor cover which wasn't caused by shipping damage.
I sent it back and Amazon had a replacement back to me in 3-4 days, Quick!, but that compressor also was damaged. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressor and beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. Funny how the Makita packaging engineers couldn't figure that one out.
I called Makita and they would not cover damage but could send me the control panel for $45. I was told to contact Amazon and after a week of waiting on Amazon, I was told that they could not send part (it would void warranty if replaced) and they were not going to send a replacement compressor. I packaged up the second compressor and sent back. I wasn't going to order another brand compressor from Amazon as I didn't want the hassle if damaged again. looking at Ridgid as I really didn't want a Dewalt or the Porter Cable pancake compressor which they carried. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. A very nice quality built unit, a couple decibels louder but less vibration than the Makita MAC2400. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brand compressor that weighs 70-80lbs.

Overall the MAC2400 looked and sounded like a good compressor for the short time I had it but makes me wonder how well they are built, with so many problems between packaging and broken parts inside cartons not caused by shipping damage on the Mac700's and a few of these. If you are not in a hurry for a compressor and/or don't care about cosmetic condtion out of the box (if damaged) then Amazon is the place to buy with their best price.

Great Compressor - After doing alot of research I settled on this Makita- I have to say the reviews are right- its quiet, and yes heavy, but you can feel and hear the quality in this machine. I had bought a craftsman compressor and returned it because it was a piece of junk, and came out of the box dirty and didn't work- I'm guessing it was a refurb.
Compressor great, but has a couple of issues - This is a great compressor and is highly recommended. However, you need to be mindful that this compressor is _very_ heavy. It _is_ quiet, as far as compressors go. Perhaps Makita will work on making a manual that matches the quality of the compressor.
Minnesota Charlie - The compressor arrived in good condition, no damage during shipping. I used it with several air tools like ratchet, impact wrench, stapler, finish nailer, and framing nailer. The air cleaner seems loose and doesn't fit as snugly as it should to the motor. I should have bought this Makita from the start.
RAD DUDE 1 - I received this compressor in excellent condition, except for a little external packaging damage. A close friend of mine has a comparable Dewalt unit, and both of us have noticed that the Makita is substantially quieter, which is very important in small enclosed work area such as mine. I highly recommend this compressor to anyone who is a home hobbist or for less demanding construction site applications.
Quiet, fast efficient, well designed - and did I mention QUIET - Wonderful compressor! Packaging needs work. Makita, apparently assuming the excellent perimeter frame will protect the compressor without adequate packaging, doesn't bother to properly package the compressor. Regardless, this is the best compressor in the category.
Very pleased - This is my first air compressor, and I just received it yesterday so can't vouch for long-term quality, but I just wanted folks to know that it has ZERO damage. The air filter was packaged in a heavy plastic baggie along with the oil and manual. The thin paper manual has a few indentations from the wingnut on the air filter pressing into it, but the compressor unit itself is showroom clean.either Makita has improved their packaging, or it had some careful handling along the way.
Lost a star for the tiny tanks - It is pretty quite for a compressor. Pumps up fast and empties its tanks just as fast! So if you just want "some air" for blowing out that carb you're rebuilding. My 3/8" air ratchet had it "flat" in no time. Makita if you're listening, please build something with a BIG TANK for us guys that don't have to walk around with it all day.
Great luggable compressor - I really like this compressor. I bought it mainly because many reviewers claimed it was quiet and I wanted a compressor that could be moved to the work area vs. stringing hose from my other compressor in the garage. This compressor is top-notch as far as quality, fit and finish, and operation go. The air cleaner was loose in the package (Makita, you really need to put some tape or something on that!) but there was no damage or marks on the compressor.

~ A little heavier than some other compressors of this capacity, but that is because of the extra armor.
~ Air cleaner is in a slighly precarious spot. Hey, that sounds like a pro!

Overall, if you are looking for a great quality compressor with decent portability, definitely consider this one!.

moter is a bust ! - I thought that I had finally found the perfect compressor for a trim carpenter. Here was a light compressor from a company that I thought sold only quality products. It has a small footprint and is very light and it delivers a decent amount of air. The service tech informed me that Makita buys the moter for this unit from another company, and it is junk! So it cost me $60 for labor to fix a 3 month old compressor. He suggested the same fix as the counter top unit for the next repair. Makita should pull this unit from their product line.

found in MAC2200's reviews:
Only minor criticisms - I bought this compressor for some fairly goofy reasons. I wanted a compressor with a cage, oil-less, side stacked tanks, and preferably some sort of lined cylinders. The last reason was because the Craftsman compressor that I had ( 220v 6hp/33gal ) the tank walls surface rusted and the air/water separator ( thank goodness I had one ) would eventually turn rusty red. The Makita had all of those, especially the aluminum tanks. The Makita is not all that light, but it is pretty well balanced, and compared to my Craftsman ( which isnt really fair because of the motor size ) it is much more quiet, this unit is nicely finished and recovers very quickly - usually runs about 10 seconds after I realize it is running again. The only other complaint which is really more of a recommendation is that the coupler Makita provides is awful.
makita mac2200 compressor - top notch tool, it's the best of any of the "small" compressors i have used. i have owned several small , name brand compressors over the last ten years and this is the first one i have really been impressed with. but don't want a large compressor.

The new MAC700KIT-Hotdog compressor (with AF503 2 Brad Nailer) by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.
found in MAC700KIT's reviews:
Recommended Unit - I'm pleased with the Makita MAC700KIT 2 HP Air Compressor Kit I purchased from Amazon. I did a fair amount of research and was tempted to purchase a Porter-Cable oil-free kit, but after borrowing a Craftsman (same as Porter-Cable)oil-free compressor from a friend, I decided to go with the oil lubricated Makita primarily because the unit is much quieter but also because I'm convinced the oil-based units have a longer life span. I started the Makita unit (after the required 20 minute lubrication "break-in") and asked my wife what she thought about the noise level. I recommend the Makita unit, but it took a about 10 days to arrive, so if you want it earlier, pay extra for the shipping.
Very god combo - This is a nice compressor-nailer kit.

2) Makita used two small (temporary) plastic plugs, one for the air inlet (it includes a air filter assemply to be screwed into this) and another for the oil filler hole.

High Quality Kit - Makita came through big time when they introduced this machine, I can have the thing running next to me and keep a conversation going on my cell phone with no problem. If you are looking for a small compact compressor that has the capacity of the medium sized units, this is the one.

At just a foot high and less than two feet wide out of the carton, this compressor was quite a bit smaller than we expected, so to be fair, we quickly lowered our expectations. The joke was on us, though, because this little powerhouse just doesn’t quit, and we learned that you can’t judge a compressor by its size. Emglo’s half-century in the compressor business is evident in this model, and with a couple of small exceptions (we’ll get into that in a minute), we don’t think anyone could make a finer piece of air power. Now, this may be a plus or a minus in your book, but we liked the fact that the compressor is factory set to power on at 100 psi an+d shut off at 120 psi, and the cycle time was under 15 seconds.) It has air aplenty for two nailers at once, and with that fast recovery, the job will get done in no time.

In balance, this is one of the best compressor’s we’ve seen for the size, power, ruggedness and incredible portability it offers. Here’s to a great pairing of two great toolmakers.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

DeWalt D 55155 - I use my compressor for light work on my auto and boat. It runs my air tools very well. The compresser came with a defective copper air line, DeWalt shipped a new one and I installed it. I repaired the switch by properly tightening the screw around the gasket.

I use DeWalt and Makita tools; Makita products are better.

Poor Reliability - Had this unit 1 month and the motor locked up, took Bostitch repair center 3 weeks to fix, told me it was a common problem they were seeing with this unit. I wish I bought the Makita instead.
