The new MAC700 - Hotdog compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.0HP AIRCOMPRESSOR 12. hot dog tank Low amp draw & oil lubricated Roll-bar handle Industrial air filter & cast iron cylinder Oil sight glass & lever handle ball valve Built-in thermal overload for motor protection MAC700 2HP AIRCOMPRESSOR.
found in MAC700's reviews: Makita Delivered - My Makita compressor was delivered 1 day after placing my order - by UPS, no special handling. Instead of a noisly BRBRBRBRAAT that my previous compressor made, this machine just purrs, and conversations can be made without raised voices right on top of the unit. Set-up consists of adding the supplied container of oil, screwing on the chrome air filter, and running the unit for 15 minutes under no load to lubricate cylinder and valves.
You won't find this compressor at Lowe's or HomeDepot, and the ones you do see there are physically bigger, not much more capacity, and twice as expensive. The closest unit I could find was on eBay - 4 Gal unit oiled Eaton compressor at $165. Quiet, Solid, Well Made - I wanted a portable compressor for using my nail guns at old houses, and was ready to replace my antique mastodon shop compressor. I was thinking I may have to buy two compressors, most portable units were too loud for the shop. A few weeks ago I bought a Ridgid brand "oil-free" compressor at HomeDepot but it was so loud that I couldn't use it indoors, even covered with a chunk of old carpet. It had good air flow.3 CFM is higher than many of the 75-pound twin stack compressors I saw. To reduce cycling in the shop, I attached my 5-gallon air tank (the kind you use for putting air in a flat tire) to the tank side of the regulator with a T and snap coupler.like don't use the compressor in the bathtub. It's a large, high quality compressor mounted on a small, portable tank. You'll get really spoiled if you're used to a noisy oil-less compressor. It is as advertised - If you're considering an oil less compressor,,, don't.
This unit is not supposed to be a "contractor's" compressor. If you need a compressor for big job sites, buy an appropriate unit. For home, shop, garage use, it seems perfect. Compact and well made! - I purchased this unit to replace an oil-less pancake compressor that burned out. The Makita MAC700 is super! It has all the attributes of a large high quality oil-lube compressor. By comparison, the pancake compressor this unit replaced was DREADFULLY loud. In my opinion, the longevity and quietness that an oil-lube compressor offers, far outweighs the time and slight inconvenience of routine maintenance. I love it! If you are looking for a light duty aircompressor, I highly recommend the MAC700 Hot Dog AirCompressor. A great addition to any home garage!.

The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack aircompressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC2400's reviews: Very Good Compressor - This compressor is everything that the reviews said. It is the perfect compressor for home use. It is some what limited on the amount of air you can use at one time. Very good unit for a single nail gun and other general home shop use. I would recommend this unit to anyone for their home shop!. RAD DUDE 1 - I received this compressor in excellent condition, except for a little external packaging damage. I am totally pleased with this unit's performance in my home workshop. I highly recommend this compressor to anyone who is a home hobbist or for less demanding construction site applications. Also, it was delivered to my home sooner than the projected delivery date,. Excellent performer! - For the home shop or light/medium duty construction, this is an excellent piece of equipment. A great compressor - Not only is this compressor a great looker, it performs flawlessly. It is the most quiet operating twin stack compressor I have used. However, a couple of small wheels, a clever home made removeable handle,I can wheel it around effortlessly. Excellent compressor - I use this for a home wood shop and occasional side jobs. It is heavy, but so are all of the other compressors in its class. It is QUIET which is something I cannot say for any other compressor in its class. It is also an easy 2 handed carry: By placing each hand on the sides of the tubular frame (not the top where the rubber grip is) I can safely carry this thing up and down stairs. The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - This is a quality compressor.
The compressor is just as quiet as others report.
Why did I get this compressor? In sum, (1) I wanted a GOOD quality tool that was not Chineese junk, (2) I wanted at least 4 cfm for tools and (2) I did not want to spend a fortune. There seems to be several classes or levels of compressor in the lower price range. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors. The Dewalt is an excellent compressor, but you cannot use it next to you in an exclosed shop -- its too loud. It is a very well made little compressor.
The compressor seems to live up to its specs. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate.
I have not owned a compressor is many years. As an advanced and serious home workshop dude, this review is not written for the pros. But for a serious homeowner that appreciates quality tools and needs a general purpose compressor, I believe I found the perfect compressor.

found in PC0947's reviews: The Professionals Choice - Need a great combo 18ga brad nailer with a compressor?
Of all the installars tools we send out with our crews, this is the one everyone fights for! Lightweight, no missfires, quiet and compact!
Fits in our largest rolling tool bags along with the other guns and gear we use, like Porter Cable nailers.
We install a 1/4" inline AIR Filter,Regulator,Lubricators fitted to the systems plumbing to assure good clean opperation of our guns before we send them out into the field.
When you own a high profile cabinet and door company like we do, its important to look professional and be quiet in the customers home, taking up as little space as possible to get the job done and get out!
This is one of those tools that helps us accomplish just that! I give this unit a 5 star rating! A great system for lite finish work!
. My new favorite tool! -
THE COMPRESSOR: The PC1010 will change the industry. For homeowners, hobby woodworkers, and customer service professionals in the cabinetry industry this is the perfect compressor. There is no need to lug around a 4 or 6 gallon compressor for a little brad nailer. You can easily carry the nailer, hose, and bread box sized compressor in one hand. I nailed right through the recovery time, and never had to wait for the compressor to before driving any brads. However, rumor has it that Senco guns work best with Senco brads, and the local home improvement stores sell mostly PC and Bostich. I would not recommend the PC1010 for anyone who wants to drive anything larger than 18ga brads, or run multiple air tools from a single compressor. Also - the compressor is so new that Senco has very limited literature on it, but I would be willing to bet they will get this taken care of soon.

This Porter-Cable 2-horsepower, 6-gallon pancake compressor transports easily but has plenty of capacity and power--enough to support heavy use of brad and finish nailers and moderate use of framing nailers. The 120-volt universal motor starts easily in cold weather and draws only 10 amps--so you won't have to worry about tripping breakers inside residential homes--and you can use it with an extension cord. Features include a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. The compressor weighs 32 pounds and has a handle built into the motor housing, so it's relatively portable. This Porter-Cable is as convenient and easy to use as any compressor out there, and it's just about ideal for brad and finish nailers that are being used inside people's homes on a regular basis. --Jonathon Tudor

found in CPFAC2600P's reviews: Great Little Unit - I bought my Porter Cable pancake compressor over 3 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. I highly recommend this unit to the home handyman. Perfect for my needs and budget too - I have a small workshop with very little space and I need to have "air" available at times. The particular unit that I purchased at a local home center offered this compressor packed with a coiled air hose, blow gun, tire chuck, tire pressure gauge, NPT fittings, etc. However, I made a separate purchase of a 50' length of regular braided air hose for increased flexibility and mobility. Also, it's a bit difficult to use certain air tools with this model because the capacity and constant volume of air are not that great.

found in D55155's description: com Review
At just a foot high and less than two feet wide out of the carton, this compressor was quite a bit smaller than we expected, so to be fair, we quickly lowered our expectations. The joke was on us, though, because this little powerhouse just doesnt quit, and we learned that you cant judge a compressor by its size. Emglos half-century in the compressor business is evident in this model, and with a couple of small exceptions (well get into that in a minute), we dont think anyone could make a finer piece of air power. Now, this may be a plus or a minus in your book, but we liked the fact that the compressor is factory set to power on at 100 psi an+d shut off at 120 psi, and the cycle time was under 15 seconds.) It has air aplenty for two nailers at once, and with that fast recovery, the job will get done in no time.
In balance, this is one of the best compressors weve seen for the size, power, ruggedness and incredible portability it offers. Heres to a great pairing of two great toolmakers.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

found in D55155's reviews: Damaged poorly packaged - After looking a long time for a compressor to do trim work on my home, I decided to purchase the D55155 compressor. Beware that when you buy this compressor you may have issue with the compressor being damaged or defective due to poorly / cardboard packaging inside the shipping box. dewalt has never let me down - im a first time home owner and when i say my house needs work i know its an understatment.most of my tools are dewalt including a assortment of nailers and this compressor.its great!!never short on air supply, even when framing.as for noise, aircompressors make noise but this unit is not bad,its a lot nicer on the ears then my 30 gallon unit. the only thing that would make this unit more attractive would be wheels and a self-storing handle like porter cable offers on its single tank compressors, other then that i have no complants. NOT for everyone !! - Be realistic and really think about your needs in a compressor - because this one is meant for low-volume work.
Cons: Too loud for use in a customer occupied home - OK for garage or outside.
Factory set pressure valve set to kick on compressor at 100psi and turn off at 120psi - which means that any fair amount of use will cause this sucker to go on-off-on-off-on-off almost constantly!
Bottom Line: DO NOT get this if you need a generous supply of air (for blow nozzles, production cabinetry, house framing, paint sprayers, etc.)
Go ahead and get one if you need a portable, professional quality, low-volume air supply (for continuous finish nailing or occasional large gun use)
This would be the perfect tool for a handyman who needs occassional yet reliable air from house to house. DeWalt takes a classic to a new level - Last yearI spent many months researching a replacement for my ailing Campbell-Hausfeld oilless compressor. Originally I figured the CH had a higher air output, needed no oil changes, would work on slopes and start in cold weather. After forking over the big bucks and putting it to work for DeWalt's 30 Day trial period I couldn't believe I'd gone so long without this compressor. 1) First of all the Emglo name on the unit reassured me that I was getting a tool built by the industry leader with a great reputation for tough, dependable compressors. The first day on the job proved it with quick cycling times and ample air at all times. I do a lot of work in luxury high rises and I've often left the compressor at home rather than drag it down endless corridors. I've paid for the compressor already in labor savings by bringing it to every trim job. I've had othe craftsmen come over and ogle the compressor and ask questions about it, but mostly admiring it.
In short, this is a serious tool for the professional contractor with loads of power(delivered air), durability, great design and looks. My only complaint is the air release lever, an otherwise solid unit mounted on the underside of the tank. The opening is too narrow for your hand and the sharp stream of air can actually cut your skin. In addition the compressor shoots out small chunks of ICE from the tank creating dangerous projectiles that will cut your hand or riccochet into your eye. Finally, I have a compressor that won't roll around in the back of the truck knocking off gauges and connections as I drive through the city.

Porter-Cables solved the compressor mobility problem on two levels with this tool. First, and most impressively, its got a two-port removable console for remote air regulation and higher air pressure right where youre working. And the compressor itself has wheels and an extension handle, making life easier on you.
Lets face it: This compressors big, heavy and loud, with a max psi of 150. You can run three or four guns at once off it with a splitter and have no air supply problems whatsoever.5 gallon, oil-free contractor style compressor is packed with features. found in C3151's reviews: Not Commercial Quality - I bought this unit so I would have an aircompressor that would keep up with common pneumatic tools. It's been in the shop (factory repair center) for a month now and have no idea when it will be fixed. It's not even capable of being a decent home unit. Good Compressor - The first one of these I got tripped a 20A breaker about every third time the compressor kicked on. I made a call and dropped it off at a service center and within a week they sent a new one to my home.
Long life, contractor quality machine - rated for continuous use Low amp draw - works on 15 amp circuits and with extension cords Versatile - offers framing, roofing or finish gun capability 3/4 Horsepower - delivers 1.7 cfm at 100 psi. Lightweight and portable, only 26 pounds
found in T-635HD's description:From the Manufacturer
Thomas Industries T-635HD is a quiet running (69-decibel) 3/4 HP compressor that is both portable and versatile. Other uses include, tire inflating, painting, airbrushing, small air tools, and winterizing water lines and RV's.
found in T-635HD's reviews: Light weight professional grade compressor for small jobs - I was looking for a portable and not overly loud aircompressor, for my low air-volume tools. I had a 4-gallon pancake compressor for several years, but at 70 lbs. Although it hardly qualifies as "quiet", it isn't nearly as noisy as other compressors I've heard. I installed a 16" stainless steel braided faucet plumbing hose on the compressor's air-outlet port; routed the hose out the back under the motor support, and screwed on a quick disconnect coupling. Because the tank is only 2 gallons (to keep weight/bulk down), the pump comes on more often than on larger units, but when it does, it's only on for about 12 seconds (if you're not using air). Translation: the compressor can be used continuously, without letup. Some compressors have only a 50% duty cycle, which means you shouldn't run it more than 30 minutes for every hour used, as that could cause excessive wear on the pump and/or motor.
You'd want a bigger unit if you had two roofing or stud-nailers going, but for low-air-volume requirements such as trim work, this little Thomas unit is just about perfect.
September 2006 update:
While working on a home renovation project, the compressor's low air pressure switch clicked, but the motor didn't start. By the time I got to the compressor, the motor was smoking, literally.

found in CFBN200A's description: Here they've packaged their hard-working 18-gauge brad nailer with its power source--a 15 amp, 120-volt, 6-gallon compressor driven by a 2-horsepower oil-free motor. Fill up the nailer with standard 18-gauge brads from 3/4 inch to 2 inches long, hook up, and you're ready to install baseboards, chair rails, moldings, even make quick work of those wooden craft items like country shelves and vegetable bins. The kit comes with quick connects, 25 feet of 150 psi air hose and thread sealing tape.
found in CFBN200A's reviews: good, but just too loud. - I'm very happy with the performance and how it's doing its job, but the compressor is just horribly loud. First thought about putting it outside (I'm using it in my garage home-workshop), but then figured, I can't really do this to my neighbours. Perfect for my needs. - I have used it for molding installation and have purchased two additional nailers to use with the compressor: a framing nailer and flooring stapler. The compressor will cycle more often because of its small capacity but that is not a problem as long as you are near an electrical source. This is the perfect size for the home improvement enthusiast. Great product delivers almost everything promised - This nailer kit is by far one of the greastest additions to my home workshop. The tool is flawless and the uses for readily available compressed air keep on coming. Great DIY kit! - I bought this kit while working on general home remodeling and renovating and it has proven itself indispensible. Both the compressor and nailer have worked flawlessly. The compressor is lightweight, easily portable, and has plenty of capacity for my nailers to keep the duty cycle pretty low (read: it doesn't turn on very often when in use). My only complaint about the kit is that the compressor is a bit loud.

found in C3551's reviews: Good idea, but a bit more durabilty would be nice - I've been using this compressor for about 2 years of daily remodeling work in Colorado in all weather conditions. I bought it because I was tired of lugging around other compressors that didn't have wheels. The rolling design of this compressor is very good because it can easily go up and down stairs as well as over typical construction site obstacles.
After a year of use the motor kept tripping breakers, so I took the compressor in for service and it received a new compressor and motor.
I work on job sites that have ancient compressors that continue to function flawlessly (but they're really heavy to move around), so I'm a bit worried by the problems I've noticed in only 2 years of use.
Because this compressor is oil lubricated, it does get sluggish in the winter. It also cannot supply as much air as the oil-free version. A trim subcontractor I know has the oil-free version and he has to rebuild his compressor annually with a $40 repair kit, so oil free isn't entirely without issues.
If you already have a compressor you like, I'd bolt some good wheels onto it and weld a nice handle onto the frame. The Porter Cable now sits in my garage for home projects or small jobs that where portability is the most important factor.
