Perfect - If it says this is a kids review just ignore it.

I have owned this air compressor for about two years now and it was worth every penny. The compressor is excellent, So far I have run my compressor about 100 hours thus far. It has always supplied my with an ample amount of air when using air tools except if I run my impact for 10 minuets continuously then it drops to 70 psi. I would recommend this compressor to any one with out hesitation. I turned it on two years ago and it has been on ever sense it kicks on about every hour because there is a leak I have not fixed in my air system. As to the previous reviewer he is full of bull. Yes it puts of a lot of heat but if you do the math PV=nRt you will see that a lot of heat is given off compressing that much air. Also in response to the allegations that the tank was going to over pressurize If the switch failed and it continued to run there is a spring loaded safety valve on the power switch on the compressor so it is not possible to over pressurize it, mine hits about 133 before it kicks off.

Oil ? - I have had this compressor for a couple of years now, never had a problem with it so far. I would say it's not exactly the lightest portable compressor out there, and most of the time I wish it had wheels. I have another larger more stationary compressor that is a different brand that gets used more out in the main shop. There are a few minor flaws that could be fixed relatively easily with this compressor. The air filter sticks out of the cage a little too far, looks like it's prone to bumps. And last but not least, the control panel, nice easy access and readability, and I like the dual air outlets, but they stick out of the roll cage after you install a pair of female couplers.

Rugged, top load magazine for easy reloading
Depth-of-drive adjustment to match nail depth to the application
Quick release nosepiece for easy clearing of jams

found in CFFN250A's reviews:
PORTER CABLE NAILED THIS ONE - LOVE THIS COMBO! ITS VERY PORTABLE, HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE BOX AND FIRE IT UP. THE GUN HAS NEVER JAMMED, IT IS VERY EASY TO CONTROL THE DEPTH OF THE NAIL EITHER FROM THE ADJUSTMENT ON THE GUN OR THE REGULATOR ON THE COMPRESSOR. THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS HAS SUFFICIENT AIR. IF THIS BOTHERS YOU GET A LONGER AIR HOSE AND KEEP THE UNIT OUTSIDE. THIS COMPRESSOR SHOULD FIRE A FRAMING NAILER AS WELL, BUT IT WILL RUN MORE OFTEN.
Good buy not very portable with NO handle. - Both the compressor and the nailer work at least as well as advertised. The only place to grab is the plastic cover over the compressor pump, and that appears never to have been intended for use as a handle.

found in CFFN250S's reviews:
A nice tidy package! - I guess to keep the price low, Porter-Cable outfitted this kit with their 135 psi pancake compressor, rather than their 150 psi compressor which is sold with their 18 gage brad nailer kit.

The positives of the kit are;

1) The 17 piece accessory kit with the pistol grip blower,
2) The gun has a balanced and quality feel,
3) Easy to load gun,
4) Easy to clear jammed nails,
5) Shorter and more streamlined design of gun,
6) Enough power to countersink a 2-1/2" nail into red oak,
7) Portable and reasonably light-weight compressor,
8) Very good sight line of nailing surface,
9) Value purchase.

The negatives of this kit are;

1) Noisy compressor,
2) Gun does not warn user when it runs out of nails,
3) Should have provided 2-1/2" nails, rather than the 2" nails,
4) Compressor's auto on/off lever can dislodge from the switch assembly when the lever is pushed/pulled at the wrong angle,
5) Must order the free black coloured trigger separately,
6) The gun will at the odd time spall the MDF moulding surface at the nail's point of entry (which means more caulking).

Something Different Inside - A slight tug on your air hose is enough to send it rolling. I'll tell you about that one on that review.
A good compressor to get you started. - I shopped extensively for a light duty compressor based on the following criteria: price, weight, and flow rating.this model comes in at about the mid-range of the portables. It features the same motor and compressor as the PC 3HP twin stack model but is $40 cheaper and about 10 pounds lighter.

Other than that what can I say - it pumps air. It is fairly loud, but I haven't listened to many other models to make an educated comparison. But that's another review. I have used it quite a bit for high air flow operations, such as blowing off dust / debris and even running an air chisel to bust up concrete. It often runs full time for 5-10 minutes and is able to keep up with air demand. If you are going to be regularly moving the compressor around, spend the extra. I actually ran a compressed air line out to my garage, so the compressor can stay put in the basement and avoid potential damage from moving it.

*** 4-year update ***

I have owned this compressor for 4+ years now and am still completely satisfied. I used a hand held, air chisel to break up the mortar joints. The compressor was operating at 100% duty cycle for 10-15 minutes at a stretch, but couldn't quite keep up with continuous use of the air chisel. As an last ditch experiment, I bought a 10 gal portable air storage tank, some extra quick disconnect fittings and rigged up a reserve tank in parallel with the 4 gallon PC tank. (yes, I am an engineer) My thinking was that I would run the crap out of my little PC and if it bit the dust, that was my excuse to buy a new compressor. I am amazed to say the PC compressor ran flawlessly for the entire chimney demo and still works fine today.
Great machine - 8 Oct 02

I read every review I can find on a tool before buying and did so in this case. The problem was, there were a couple `for' and a couple `against' this compressor which didn't help in the decision process (usually there's enough positive or negative comments to aid in making a decision). If you want to ensure you don't have this problem, buy a compressor with a cage around it. Heck what do you want from a COMPRESSOR!

- Plenty of air to shoot my 15ga nails and recovery time on the tank is VERY quick.
Great Little Air Squeezer!!! - This little Porter Cable compressor is all (and more) that I expected it to be. The output should be more than adequate for my needs to run an air ratchet, blow nozzle, hand sandblaster and pressurize a small auxilliary portable tank.

Very good - with provisos - Just received my M990 compressor after my local small engine repair shop recommended it over others. Plenty of power, great pressure and set up for two air hoses right out of the box. provided excellent assistance, bottom line however is that it needed to go to the local repair shop for warranty work. Also, the unit is about at the limit of what one would reasonably call portable.

This Portable Compressor is Rugged and Well Built ! - Surprised and impressed! I looked at Home Depot and Lowes and decided to order this air compressor to save the Tax and the trouble of bring it home.

Looking at the other brands of portable compressors I really like how well this one is built.
Porter Cable Compressor Review - My compressor arrived about 7 days after I placed my order. Keep in mind that your compressor does'nt include a hose, fittings, or a filter which is a good idea to extend the life of your air tools and a must to spray paint, so these items must be purchased seperatly. It's not too loud, it can fill up fairly quick, and most of all it provided plenty of power for what I was using it for, even when using a 100 foot extension cord.
Great General Purpose Portable Compressor - I bought this compressor to run nail guns, air sand and spray paint. It is also handy to limit the pressure to safe levels for your various air tools. Shut it off, close the valve and turn it back on; you're ready for action! The unit really is portable, especially with the well balanced carry handle protruding from the top. It is not as loud as large upright compressors, but it does make a fair amount of noise, although not as much as I expected. I use it with a Souix air sander and it does run longer when I am working. If you take on a tractor trailer, get a bigger compressor.
Darn Good Little Compressor - Short and sweet - this compressor delivers on its promises - it is easy to use, easy to break-in, easy to maintain, and you can't beat the duel air hose inlets. I have found both of the built in pressure gauges to be accurate, and the oil-free motor is quieter than other compressors I have used (although it still makes a good bit of noise). To me, that's portable - I can understand how that would not be the case with everyone, but my experience leads me to believe that this compressor has a very good weight-to-horsepower-to-air storage capacity ratio.
Great little air compressor - This air compressor is great! This unit is fairly quiet, compact, light enough to be toted around if needed, no oil needed and very powerful. This unit replaced a 12 year old 15 gallons, 2 hp, craftsman rolling air compressor and all I can say is that I wish I purchased this unit sooner. I like the portable size too, it doesn't take up too much room. When comparing the 2 units the Porter Cable is definitely stronger, the only difference being that when you are running any tools the compressor is running almost non stop compared to a unit with a larger tank that does not have to refill as fast. I consider this a plus though, because I always drain the tank after each use and it does not take as long to release all the air. At this price range there are many choices out there for anyone looking for a compact air compressor but when you start to compare CFM ratings @ 90 PSI this one has the highest ratings.
Better than the pancake model - I've used the smaller Porter-Cable pancake compressor for about 2 years. The only thing I don't think is an improvement is the knob for adjusting air pressure.

This time I installed the compressor with the air hose reel from Amazon mounted right beside it on the floor. If you get the reel, you'll probably need to make a trip to the local hardware store for an interconnecting piece to connect the reel to the compressor. I now use the pancake style as the portable one (I agree, this one's too heavy).
