At (74-decibels) the Thomas T-2820ST is the quietest 2 HP contractor grade compressor on the market. Delivering 5 cfm at 100 psi it is also the highest output 2 HP compressor available. Often called "The Cadillac of Portables" it sets the standard on what 2 HP compressors should be.
found in T-2820ST's reviews: The Cadillac of portableaircompressors - My new Thomas compressor, T-2820ST, is quiet enough to run in the house and is so well balanced that it is not too heavy to move around. extension cords can be used); this is the Cadillac of portablecompressors. The paint job on the tanks could be better and air fittings could be included, but those are minor issues. The best portablecompressor availible - We use these compressors everyday. We came to like the low weight (lighter than any of our single cylinder compressors) and the fact that it is quieter than out pancake compressors.

found in EC12's reviews: Happy, but could be happier - The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I have seen on another review that a Smart Start inlet filter can be purchased to cure this problem, but it's annoying that you need to buy new parts to cure problems on a new compressor.
I guess having only one complaint for a power tool isn't too bad, but I'm sure there's a better compressor out there.

found in CPFC2TV3525VP's reviews: Oops, where's that quality control? - I'd love to review this product but when it was assembled, they cross threaded the tube that connects the compressor unit with the storage tank. Maybe I can review that one. Not too noisey, good deal - Mine came with two of the legs bent, I read another review and that guy had the same problem also. Quiet, portable and powerful - I shopped around for weeks before I decided on this compressor. I wanted a compressor for home that I could run an impact on or a DA sander but I also wanted something portable that I could run a nailer on. I had planned to buy two compressors but this compressor will do both. We all know that pancake and especially stacked tank portables are great but they are also noisy, relativley expensive for a good one and really ought to have wheels in addition to the handle, because carrying one is a joke. This compressor is surprisingly quiet and is quite powerful. The two stage allows it to provide the power of a compressor twice it's capacity and uses twice the horsepower.) So if you're buying one for home or stationary use that will be run a lot, look at buying a 2-stage 240 volt compressor, it will save you money when the electric bill comes. Recovery time is what you should look for and don't expect any compressor to keep quiet for long when you're running a continuous tool like a sander. Something to consider if you're serious about buying this compressor is look at the CPFC2TV3520WK, it's the same compressor with a 20 gallon horizontal tank but it has a four port remote regulator which might be of use or interest to you. I'll post again in the future once I've used the compressor more and know it a little better. I would recommend renting a compressor or borrowing one from someone who has it prior to making your decision if you haven't used them enough to know what you want from one.

Even for occasional home maintenance, air tools are more practical and less costly than expensive electric power tools with umpteen mechanical parts and exorbitantly priced batteries of all shapes and sizes. But before investing in smart air tools, you need a quality compressor. This popular 4-gallon twin stack aircompressor from Campbell Hausfeld is oil lubricated and built to last. Ideal for inflation, nailing, stapling and spraying jobs, this compressor also powers everything from sandblasters and spray guns to drills and die grinders in a matter of seconds. So, rather than investing in an expensive new electric tool set; save time and money with this 4-gallon compressor and Campbell Hausfeld's line of 70 high quality air tools. The initial cost of an air tool is significantly lower than its electrically powered counterpart, and the average tool life expectancy is longer, too. Plus, when powered by this 4-gallon compressor, air tools deliver more torque and higher revolutions-per-minute than electric tools for less downtime and greater productivity.
found in HL5502's reviews: Just got this at COSTCO w/finish nailer - I just got this compressor a few days ago and have not really had a chance to test it fully. It came with a Campbell Hausfeld 2 1/2 inch finish nailer, an air hose and a quick release air fitting. The compressor fills up quickly but is a little loud. I thought the oiled compressors were quieter. I had been shopping around for an affordable compressor and realized that with COSTCO's return policy that I couldn't go wrong. I will update this review after some heaver use. The facts about this aircompressor - Don't believe everything that the editors at Amazon wrote about this compressor. With those jobs you need a large tank capacity like over 20 gallons at least, this compressor only has 4 gallons. Yes it is true what the other reviewer said, this compressor is loud, but what do you expect all aircompressors are relatively loud. And yes this compressor is heavy I think it's about 70 lbs. Hitatchi's twinstack oil-lube version is about the same as this compressor but goes for twice the price. I gave this review three out of five stars because of the weight issue and because I havn't had enough time to use it extensively. Other than that I think that this compressor is a buy because it's oil-lubed (more reliable than oil less), affordable, and made by a company that is known for it's aircompressors.

found in CPLDC2540S's reviews: A- compressor except for the regulator - I've been searching for a portablecompressor for a couple of months now and near the end came up with three to chose from: the Emglo 55155, a Hitachi dual stack and this PC.
After looking at the reviews here, elsewhere and comments from a friend about his Emglo, I decided to go with the 2540S. Other compressors did meet these, but what draw me was the oil lube system that permits you to use it on uneven surfaces.5max) to not trip the circuit breakers, filtered intake (not output though) for longer motor life, shrouded motor for airflow from fan and good manual. Mine leaked just like the last reviewer had, so I opened it from the front and saw that the valves inside weren't centered to each other. The only thing I added at the universal coupler end is a water/air filter.

found in CPLDC2541S's reviews: Takes to much power and is too loud (also flimsy switch) - This compressor absolutely will NOT run on 15 amps. This makes this compressor almost usless for me because I can never find anywhere to plug it in. I was just working in a basement at the same time as a guy that had a Hitachi compressor and his was less than HALF as loud.
I wrote the above review a week ago. The guy helping me tripped over the air hose and it caught on the little shutoff lever. Now my compressor won't even shut off. I'm seriously thinking about just leaving this for the garbage man and buying the DeWalt Emglo compressor. I ended up buying a CastAiraircompressor. CastAir is not a commercial brand, but the factory where they are made is about 2 miles from my house in Chaska, MN. These compressors were only recently made available to non-commercial applications (previously they specialized in huge compressors used in body shops, etc. It's quiet, powerful, and SOLID as a ROCK!!! A REAL contractor grade compressor for the same amount as I paid for this PC. I have NO relationship or incentive to recommend CastAir other than I'm a very satisfied customer. Check them out if you want a REALLY great compressor.
