found in EC12's reviews: Affordable and hard working (residential construction) - Good airflow and not a power drain. Has powered two framing nailers but need to give compressor a breather when going fast. Great air supply for the blower used for cleaning tools of sawdust. Hitachi's Dependable Compressor - I chose the Hitachi three years ago because it has a fine compressor and motor, solid construction, and overall good design. The Hitachi is not only reliable, but, unlike many compressors, it truly works on 15 amps. This compressor has never blown a fuse on me, which is something of a miracle considering the wiring in many of the older homes I remodel. Happy, but could be happier - I was given a high recommendation for Hitachi power tools by a construction veteran, so I purchased one. The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I have seen on another review that a Smart Start inlet filter can be purchased to cure this problem, but it's annoying that you need to buy new parts to cure problems on a new compressor.
I guess having only one complaint for a power tool isn't too bad, but I'm sure there's a better compressor out there.

found in CPFC2TV3525VP's reviews: Quiet, portable and powerful - I shopped around for weeks before I decided on this compressor. I wanted a compressor for home that I could run an impact on or a DA sander but I also wanted something portable that I could run a nailer on. I had planned to buy two compressors but this compressor will do both. We all know that pancake and especially stacked tank portables are great but they are also noisy, relativley expensive for a good one and really ought to have wheels in addition to the handle, because carrying one is a joke. This compressor is surprisingly quiet and is quite powerful. The two stage allows it to provide the power of a compressor twice it's capacity and uses twice the horsepower.) So if you're buying one for home or stationary use that will be run a lot, look at buying a 2-stage 240 volt compressor, it will save you money when the electric bill comes. Recovery time is what you should look for and don't expect any compressor to keep quiet for long when you're running a continuous tool like a sander. Something to consider if you're serious about buying this compressor is look at the CPFC2TV3520WK, it's the same compressor with a 20 gallon horizontal tank but it has a four port remote regulator which might be of use or interest to you. I'll post again in the future once I've used the compressor more and know it a little better. I would recommend renting a compressor or borrowing one from someone who has it prior to making your decision if you haven't used them enough to know what you want from one.

CAP2560OL 2.5HP (Peak) oil-lubricated contractor compressor N80 Stick Framing Nailer
found in U-CPACKN80's reviews: Poor shipping procedures--TWICE! - I ordered this compressor and framing nailer for a shop I was building. I chose the free shipping because I had about 10 days before I was to begin construction. Finally the box arrived-late-I had to borrow some air tools. The compressor had no oil in it. It had obviously been turned on it's side and it leaked out over everything-compressor and nailgun. The airgun I borrowed was a Bostich, and it worked extremely well.

found in CAP2060P's reviews: good - I have worked with this compressor for about a week and before that I was using a 30 gallon 220Volt rig that I have had for years.So,it is light and compact,irratingly noisy when filling but very portable.I like the convenience and the oil-less feature because I do a lot of trim work,like after new homes are sheetrocked,I will hang cabinets,interior doors as well as stairskirts,base,door casing and misc other trim details to complete the home.

found in CAP2045ST-OL's reviews: Oil ? - I have had this compressor for a couple of years now, never had a problem with it so far. I would say it's not exactly the lightest portablecompressor out there, and most of the time I wish it had wheels. I have another larger more stationary compressor that is a different brand that gets used more out in the main shop. There are a few minor flaws that could be fixed relatively easily with this compressor. The air filter sticks out of the cage a little too far, looks like it's prone to bumps. And last but not least, the control panel, nice easy access and readability, and I like the dual air outlets, but they stick out of the roll cage after you install a pair of female couplers.
One-Year Warranty/30-Day Performance Certification Oil-free compressor can operate on slopes without risk of leaks Rugged, top load magazine for easy reloading Depth-of-drive adjustment to match nail depth to the application Quick release nosepiece for easy clearing of jams
found in CFFN250A's reviews: PORTER CABLE NAILED THIS ONE - LOVE THIS COMBO! ITS VERY PORTABLE, HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE BOX AND FIRE IT UP. THE GUN HAS NEVER JAMMED, IT IS VERY EASY TO CONTROL THE DEPTH OF THE NAIL EITHER FROM THE ADJUSTMENT ON THE GUN OR THE REGULATOR ON THE COMPRESSOR. THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS HAS SUFFICIENT AIR. IF THIS BOTHERS YOU GET A LONGER AIR HOSE AND KEEP THE UNIT OUTSIDE. THIS COMPRESSOR SHOULD FIRE A FRAMING NAILER AS WELL, BUT IT WILL RUN MORE OFTEN. Good buy not very portable with NO handle. - Both the compressor and the nailer work at least as well as advertised. The only place to grab is the plastic cover over the compressor pump, and that appears never to have been intended for use as a handle.
1 year limited warranty Complete kit with quick-connects, 25' 300 psi air hose, thread sealing tape, nailer case, and wrenches Oil-free compressor produces 3.7 scfm at 40 psi and 2.7 scfm at 90 psi Nailer features cushion grip, depth of drive, piston catch, quick-release nosepiece, and directional exhaust Professional nailer shoots 3/4" to 2-1/2" 16 gauge finish nails
found in CFFN250S's reviews: A nice tidy package! - I guess to keep the price low, Porter-Cable outfitted this kit with their 135 psi pancake compressor, rather than their 150 psi compressor which is sold with their 18 gage brad nailer kit.
The positives of the kit are;
1) The 17 piece accessory kit with the pistol grip blower, 2) The gun has a balanced and quality feel, 3) Easy to load gun, 4) Easy to clear jammed nails, 5) Shorter and more streamlined design of gun, 6) Enough power to countersink a 2-1/2" nail into red oak, 7) Portable and reasonably light-weight compressor, 8) Very good sight line of nailing surface, 9) Value purchase.
The negatives of this kit are;
1) Noisy compressor, 2) Gun does not warn user when it runs out of nails, 3) Should have provided 2-1/2" nails, rather than the 2" nails, 4) Compressor's auto on/off lever can dislodge from the switch assembly when the lever is pushed/pulled at the wrong angle, 5) Must order the free black coloured trigger separately, 6) The gun will at the odd time spall the MDF moulding surface at the nail's point of entry (which means more caulking).
One Year Warranty Supports use of all brad and finish nailers and moderate use of framing and roofing nailers High-flow regulator allows more work at higher pressures 3 hp induction motor for quieter operation High-pressure technology provides more usable air for longer run time
found in CPF23400P's reviews: Great Little Air Squeezer!!! - This little Porter Cable compressor is all (and more) that I expected it to be. The output should be more than adequate for my needs to run an air ratchet, blow nozzle, hand sandblaster and pressurize a small auxilliary portable tank.
The gauges, regulator and hose coupling on this model are out in the open, and exposed to potential damage if used at a busy construction site. Great machine - The problem was, there were a couple `for' and a couple `against' this compressor which didn't help in the decision process (usually there's enough positive or negative comments to aid in making a decision). Heavy duty enough for any homeowner and most light construction jobs (finish carpentry). It's not hefty enough for (nor was it designed as far as I can see) for heavy construction work (roofing, framing, etc. If you want to ensure you don't have this problem, buy a compressor with a cage around it. Heck what do you want from a COMPRESSOR!
- Plenty of air to shoot my 15ga nails and recovery time on the tank is VERY quick. A good compressor to get you started. - I shopped extensively for a light duty compressor based on the following criteria: price, weight, and flow rating.this model comes in at about the mid-range of the portables. It features the same motor and compressor as the PC 3HP twin stack model but is $40 cheaper and about 10 pounds lighter.
Other than that what can I say - it pumps air. It is fairly loud, but I haven't listened to many other models to make an educated comparison. I have used it quite a bit for high air flow operations, such as blowing off dust / debris and even running an air chisel to bust up concrete. It often runs full time for 5-10 minutes and is able to keep up with air demand. If you are going to be regularly moving the compressor around, spend the extra. I actually ran a compressed air line out to my garage, so the compressor can stay put in the basement and avoid potential damage from moving it.
*** 4-year update ***
I have owned this compressor for 4+ years now and am still completely satisfied. I used a hand held, air chisel to break up the mortar joints. The compressor was operating at 100% duty cycle for 10-15 minutes at a stretch, but couldn't quite keep up with continuous use of the air chisel. As an last ditch experiment, I bought a 10 gal portableair storage tank, some extra quick disconnect fittings and rigged up a reserve tank in parallel with the 4 gallon PC tank. (yes, I am an engineer) My thinking was that I would run the crap out of my little PC and if it bit the dust, that was my excuse to buy a new compressor. I am amazed to say the PC compressor ran flawlessly for the entire chimney demo and still works fine today.
One-year warranty Requires 20 amp circuit breaker Delivers 5.2 cfm at 125 psi Powerful 2-1/2 hp electric motor
found in M990-HC4V's reviews: Very good - with provisos - Just received my M990 compressor after my local small engine repair shop recommended it over others. Plenty of power, great pressure and set up for two air hoses right out of the box. provided excellent assistance, bottom line however is that it needed to go to the local repair shop for warranty work. Also, the unit is about at the limit of what one would reasonably call portable.
Starts easily under low voltage conditions Built-in thermal overload protection for added safety Dynamically balanced counterweight crankshaft design for reduced vibration Durable cast aluminum components for lighter weight and faster heat dissipation Designed especially for finish work
found in MAC500's reviews: A great portable for small jobs -
Even with these drawbacks its a great little compressor for finish carpentry.
