No where in the description does it say it's a gas-powered generator, and these people are belittling a product that they bought because they made a mistake by not researching what the product was and because they don't seem to know the difference between a portable power-pack and a real generator. This is a battery powered portable power unit, first and foremost. They put a small compressor on it and it works fine for emergencies, but it's not meant to inflate tires all the time like a Campbell-Hausfield 10-hp dual-stage compressor with 50-gallon tank, it's an emergency convenience, and that's the point that should be remembered. If you want to run your TV, air-conditioner, hot-water heater, well pump, washer/dryer, dishwasher, home theater system, or refridgerator, then buy a gasoline powered generator instead. pleasant surprise - I'm very pleased with the portable XPowerpack 300 Plus. It's a battery, not a generator - And if you want a portable battery/charger package for running accessories and emergency car starting, there are better units. Doesn't hold a charge! - I love the idea Xantrex had for a portable electronic generator, however their execution came up a little short on this one. |

This is a great air compressor for anyone wanting a quite portable unit! . Excellent Air Compressor - I had previously made the LOUD mistake of getting a "maintenance-free" air compressor. Although not silent, this air compressor is MUCH more tolerable. This compressor is also of good quality and very sturdy (heavy) construction. It's a sweet piece - It is everything the desciption said it would be very quiet, solid construction, and good capacity. Having used various compressors in the past from cheap chinese brands to high end models this unit ranks right up there with the better ones. If this is the size compressor that suits your needs you won't go wrong buying this one. Excellent performer! - For the home shop or light/medium duty construction, this is an excellent piece of equipment. Solid and Quite, but not packaged to be shipped upside down . . . - Bought this compressor based on Amazon reviews declaring its solid construction and quiet operation. Also, the unit is clearly packaged to survice shipment on a pallet, where it will stay right side up! Mine obviously spent some time on its head in the UPS truck, with the air filter housing digging into the pretty face plate. RAD DUDE 1 - I received this compressor in excellent condition, except for a little external packaging damage. I highly recommend this compressor to anyone who is a home hobbist or for less demanding construction site applications. Quiet, fast efficient, well designed - and did I mention QUIET - Wonderful compressor! Packaging needs work. Makita, apparently assuming the excellent perimeter frame will protect the compressor without adequate packaging, doesn't bother to properly package the compressor. Regardless, this is the best compressor in the category. The only downside I've found is weight, but the quiet and strong construction more than compensate for the added poundage. Great Compressor - I am just a homeowner who has a hobby of woodworking, and I havent used this compressor very much so far, but it has been great when I have used it.and very portable.I would recommend this compressor to everyone. HEAVY = TOUGH - Great compressor i replaced my PC Pancake with this fine product and i know there is a differance in the size and weight, but i was alittle shocked how heavy it was. that being said it is still very portable - i just bought more hose so i don't have to move it as much. Best in class - I think it's the best for the following: A) This compressor just purrs. B) Over-built compressor compared to tank size - so cycle times are very short - if using light-duty tools, it doesn't run much anyway. C) No leaks - holds its air pressure seemingly forever when turned off (not that you shouldn't release pressure when done using it). D) The air filter is a miniature version of an old-time car air filter. For a unit that's going to be sitting on the ground amidst swirling construction dust, this is a big plus. The glaring exception is the air filter hanging off the side - I can see this part's going to be replaced at some point when I throw it in a truck bed. In this case, the air filter is just thrown in loose inside the box - mine broke one of the gauge glasses. Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. Even with weight I was quite pleased with the compressor but my buying experience was much less. My first compressor from Amazon had a broken plastic motor cover which wasn't caused by shipping damage. I sent it back and Amazon had a replacement back to me in 3-4 days, Quick!, but that compressor also was damaged. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressor and beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. I was told to contact Amazon and after a week of waiting on Amazon, I was told that they could not send part (it would void warranty if replaced) and they were not going to send a replacement compressor. I packaged up the second compressor and sent back. I wasn't going to order another brand compressor from Amazon as I didn't want the hassle if damaged again. looking at Ridgid as I really didn't want a Dewalt or the Porter Cable pancake compressor which they carried. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brand compressor that weighs 70-80lbs. Overall the MAC2400 looked and sounded like a good compressor for the short time I had it but makes me wonder how well they are built, with so many problems between packaging and broken parts inside cartons not caused by shipping damage on the Mac700's and a few of these. If you are not in a hurry for a compressor and/or don't care about cosmetic condtion out of the box (if damaged) then Amazon is the place to buy with their best price. |

Good job Amazon!. I bought the Porter-Cable C3551 . . . AND I'M STILL GLAD!!! - I shopped long and hard for a well built portable compressor that was durable and just plain practical. This is a fantastic compressor. The Porter-Cable C3551 is a very nice compressor - I have a few compressors already - but they are too big and bulky to move around and my previous smaller 10 gallon compressor is getting a bit rough around the edges. 10 years old for a oil-less compressor is a pretty good. With that said I wanted a new smaller compressor to aid in the remodel work I'm doing. Upon receiving the compressor I gave it a quick once over. The performance of the compressor is very good. It fills quick, cycles infrequently, and is fairly quiet. I think this is one of the best small compressors out there. If you need a nice portable compressor - look no further. For me it came down to the DEWALT D55155 or this compressor. Good idea, but a bit more durabilty would be nice - I've been using this compressor for about 2 years of daily remodeling work in Colorado in all weather conditions. I bought it because I was tired of lugging around other compressors that didn't have wheels. The rolling design of this compressor is very good because it can easily go up and down stairs as well as over typical construction site obstacles. After a year of use the motor kept tripping breakers, so I took the compressor in for service and it received a new compressor and motor. I work on job sites that have ancient compressors that continue to function flawlessly (but they're really heavy to move around), so I'm a bit worried by the problems I've noticed in only 2 years of use. Because this compressor is oil lubricated, it does get sluggish in the winter. It also cannot supply as much air as the oil-free version. A trim subcontractor I know has the oil-free version and he has to rebuild his compressor annually with a $40 repair kit, so oil free isn't entirely without issues. If you already have a compressor you like, I'd bolt some good wheels onto it and weld a nice handle onto the frame. |
