The new MAC700 - Hotdog compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.0HP AIRCOMPRESSOR 12. hot dog tank Low amp draw & oil lubricated Roll-bar handle Industrial air filter & cast iron cylinder Oil sight glass & lever handle ball valve Built-in thermal overload for motor protection MAC700 2HP AIRCOMPRESSOR.
found in MAC700's reviews: exellent - so far so good, my hot dog arrived defective from the manufacturer, but makita has an excellent warranty on their tools all i had to do was go to their website and locate their nearest service center where in no time they had my compressor running they replaced all parts with geniune makita brand new parts, mine had a short circuit in the motor and they replaced it with a new one, as far as performance excellent, very easy on your ears. Arrived damaged - After opening the cardboard box that was obviously crushed, I found the plastic motor cover broked and the brass unloading elbow broken-off in the check valve attached to the side of the tank. Lives up to all reviews - BUT all that weight comes from the powerful motor and cast-iron cylinder. Always damaged - I had the compressor sent out two times, both times, it arrived damaged. First time, the plastic motor housing was cracked with several pieces chipped off.
The compressor looked great, felt great, only wish Makita would have packaged it with more padding. Amazon has been great about both returns, but they won't send me a third compressor. Hot Dogg ! - Makita has put a full size, quiet, oil-lubed motor on a small, lighter weight tank; about 20lbs lighter than the 4 gallon tanks. This makes it great for carrying up stairs and around the job site. Compact and well made! - I purchased this unit to replace an oil-less pancake compressor that burned out. The Makita MAC700 is super! It has all the attributes of a large high quality oil-lube compressor. By comparison, the pancake compressor this unit replaced was DREADFULLY loud. I am impressed with the powerful low-rpm motor and the heavy duty oil-lube design. In my opinion, the longevity and quietness that an oil-lube compressor offers, far outweighs the time and slight inconvenience of routine maintenance. I love it! If you are looking for a light duty aircompressor, I highly recommend the MAC700 Hot Dog AirCompressor. An Airbrushing Powerhouse -
I use it to power airbrushes along with an added-on airbrush regulator/gauge/moisture trap. This is exactly what I wanted for airbrushing. It has a much longer lifespan than "airbrush compressors". The airbrushes work consistently all throughout the refill phase. This is the muscle car of airbrush compressors even though it was made in Taiwan. 5 to 10 minutes of airbrushing in silence, and when it comes on it does have some volume, but it is so much less noise than an oilless. It's the large exposed part of the motor that you can easily reach and tighten up with a screwdriver. Makita Delivered - My Makita compressor was delivered 1 day after placing my order - by UPS, no special handling. Instead of a noisly BRBRBRBRAAT that my previous compressor made, this machine just purrs, and conversations can be made without raised voices right on top of the unit. Set-up consists of adding the supplied container of oil, screwing on the chrome air filter, and running the unit for 15 minutes under no load to lubricate cylinder and valves.
You won't find this compressor at Lowe's or Home Depot, and the ones you do see there are physically bigger, not much more capacity, and twice as expensive. The closest unit I could find was on eBay - 4 Gal unit oiled Eaton compressor at $165. versus 151 for the Makita, and has a 15 amp running motor at higher RPM versus Makita's 12 amp at slower RPM (and noise levl is probably higher than Makita).

This very quiet 78 dBA, traditional belt drive oil lube, horizontal low profile, wheeled portable aircompressor from Porter-Cable provides 20 gallons of air tank reserve at a 150 PSI maximum pressure which provides 71 percent more usable air over traditional 125 PSI maximum air pressure units operating tools that require 90 PSI. With a pressure switch controller that automatically restarts the motor at the 120 PSI falling tank pressure point you get this quicker motor/pump operation and bonus air delivery. Supports all nailing applications and moderate + air tool usage of most air tools.9 Running HP capacitor start induction motor runs on a 15 amp circuit and provides 7. Includes 10 pneumatic wheels, foam padded metal handle, high air flow regulator/quick coupler and two gages. Reserve air tank is ASME approved.
One-year warranty Requires 20 amp circuit breaker Delivers 5.2 cfm at 125 psi Powerful 2-1/2 hp electric motor
found in M990-HC4V's reviews: Very good - with provisos - Just received my M990 compressor after my local small engine repair shop recommended it over others. Plenty of power, great pressure and set up for two air hoses right out of the box. Seems an internal pressure valve must have gotten a piece of trash in it and it wouldn't release enough pressure to allow the motor to restart. provided excellent assistance, bottom line however is that it needed to go to the local repair shop for warranty work.

found in EC12's reviews: A real turd - It now pumps up, and doesn't stop until the pressure safety valve blows, then the motor goes into some kind of cardiac arrest. Now I'm sure I'll be raped at the repair center as I spend >$100 to repair this $200 turd. CAUTOIN!!!! CHEAP SAID MADE IN CHINDA - Well first when UPS droped off untied the plastic it said on unit MADE IN CHINA, Then when I lifted out of bag I saw pieces of what looked like pot metal in the bottom of bag, What happen was that someone sit it down to hard, busted the motor and compressor from the frame, Metal looked about 1/16" thick, plus free shipping took 13 days to arrive.00 to wait 13 days to get a china made busted compressor. Hitachi's Dependable Compressor - I chose the Hitachi three years ago because it has a fine compressor and motor, solid construction, and overall good design. The Hitachi is not only reliable, but, unlike many compressors, it truly works on 15 amps. This compressor has never blown a fuse on me, which is something of a miracle considering the wiring in many of the older homes I remodel. Compressor great, regulator bad - This compressor is a great value. It has a quality oil lubricated motor and is competitively priced with "oil-less" compressors of similar size and capacity. It works great with my various small air tools (palm nailer, impact wrench, etc). EC12 Cold Start Problems - The Hitachi EC12 is a very solid contractor compressor. While these problems occur across the board among compressor manufacturers, there is a product that helps eliminate the issue. Called the Smart Start by Conrader it replaces the standard inlet filter of the compressor. Essentially, it delays compression and allows the motor to reach full speed before encountering a load.
One-year warranty Automatic start/stop Overload protected, low amp draw Delivers 2.6 cfm at 125 psi Powerful 2 hp electric motor
found in AM700-HC4V's reviews: AM700 vs AM780 and M790 - Upon inspection the AM700 is clearly a consumer model compressor. The 700 has a visibly less expensive cylinder and motor assembly. It also requires more oil than the am78 pump, not to mention the cheezy air filter. Although as a consumer model I believe this unit is far superior to an oiless compressor.

found in C3551's reviews: Rattler - As some previous comments, Porter-Cable needs to do a much better job of packaging this unit!
Luckily, there was no external damage to the unit, but there is quite a few things rattling around either in the motor or the tank (I can't tell which) so, I'm afraid to put oil in it and getting it started. Was pleased the second time - First shipment came damaged (cast motor mounts sheared off). I have not used satelite regulator option, I suppose if you were 500' from compressor it might be handy. It rolls! - Powerful motor and compressor. Good idea, but a bit more durabilty would be nice - I've been using this compressor for about 2 years of daily remodeling work in Colorado in all weather conditions. I bought it because I was tired of lugging around other compressors that didn't have wheels. The rolling design of this compressor is very good because it can easily go up and down stairs as well as over typical construction site obstacles.
After a year of use the motor kept tripping breakers, so I took the compressor in for service and it received a new compressor and motor.
I work on job sites that have ancient compressors that continue to function flawlessly (but they're really heavy to move around), so I'm a bit worried by the problems I've noticed in only 2 years of use.
Because this compressor is oil lubricated, it does get sluggish in the winter. It also cannot supply as much air as the oil-free version. A trim subcontractor I know has the oil-free version and he has to rebuild his compressor annually with a $40 repair kit, so oil free isn't entirely without issues.
If you already have a compressor you like, I'd bolt some good wheels onto it and weld a nice handle onto the frame. Get a clue Porter Cable! - First I will start by saying PC makes a good compressor and we have two at the company I work for. The first C3551 showed up with the roll cage dented in two places, the air filter post bent, scratched everywhere and the big problem something metal was loose in the engine and you could hear it banging around as you moved the compressor around. The second C3551 that showed had a dented roll cage also but the big problem was more metal clanging around in the motor. compressor was two flimsy pieces of cardboard on either side of the unit.
One-year warranty Rugged cast-iron cylinder Performs at above average working pressures Delivers 3.6 cfm at 125 psi Powerful 2 hp electric motor
found in AM780-HC4V's reviews: Great But ... - I have several compressors, but since this is light and runs on 15 am circuits it is the preference for small volume needs such as small nail guns, tires and especially jobs where transporting the compressor is required. Example, a framer and helper will easily outrun the production capability of the compressor with one gun. On a hot day with poor air circulation the motor start capacitor blew. Since this was the only issue with the tool I decided it made sense to repair. My standard motor repair shop wouldn't touch it. The Emglo repair center wanted an exhorbitant amount for the capacitor ($$). The time I spent calling around and shopping for the replacement part far exceeded the value of simply replacing the compressor unit.
One-year warranty Rugged cast-iron cylinder High-profile gauge panel Delivers 3.6 cfm at 125 psi Powerful 2 hp electric motor
found in M790-HC4V's reviews: Defective out of the box - I was very excited to receive my Emglo M790-HC4V aircompressor today. After I installed the oil in the compresor crankcase and turned it on, the motor hummed loudly as though it had a shorted winding and refused to turn the compressor. After close examination, I was surprised to see that the compressor / motor unit is mostly a white metal casting that is secured to the chassis with self tapping screws.
