Even for occasional home maintenance, air tools are more practical and less costly than expensive electric power tools with umpteen mechanical parts and exorbitantly priced batteries of all shapes and sizes. But before investing in smart air tools, you need a quality compressor. This popular 4-gallon twin stack aircompressor from Campbell Hausfeld is oil lubricated and built to last. Ideal for inflation, nailing, stapling and spraying jobs, this compressor also powers everything from sandblasters and spray guns to drills and die grinders in a matter of seconds. So, rather than investing in an expensive new electric tool set; save time and money with this 4-gallon compressor and Campbell Hausfeld's line of 70 high quality air tools. The initial cost of an air tool is significantly lower than its electrically powered counterpart, and the average tool life expectancy is longer, too. Plus, when powered by this 4-gallon compressor, air tools deliver more torque and higher revolutions-per-minute than electric tools for less downtime and greater productivity.

First, the compressor: The unit blasts out an impressive 150 maximum psi for driving more nails than traditional 135 psi compressors. Running on standard household current, this 120-volt electric compressor also cranks out 2.6 standard cubic feet per minute at 90 psi for quick compressor recovery time and faster nailing. Weighing just 34 pounds, the compressor is easy to transport from project to project. And, two quick-connect couplers let the compressor power two nail guns to at the same time. A tool-free, jam release mechanism doesnt block the line of sight for uninterrupted work. Olson

found in TG-400HST's reviews: Air Cube 1 - This compressor is a contractor's dream.4 CFM @ 100 PSI air delivery. This 1-1/2 foot cube gas compressor fits in the trunk of a midsize vehicle. This is the only gas power compressor that I have worked with that a single average size person can move (alone). The engine optimizes fuel efficiency by automatically slowing to an ideal speed when the air tanks are full. The fuel line should be shutoff before turning off the engine to ensure an easy startup.
The engine, even while operating faster to fill the air tanks, is relatively quiet allowing a normal conversation a few feet away. It is quieter than the pancake compressors I have used.
Each air tank has a separate moisture drain valve to keep the tanks from rusting on the inside.
* The air regulator comes with two 1/4" female NPT thread connections. Since I could not remove the stripped hex plug, I used the air gage connection to add a tee.

found in MAC700's reviews: shipping problems - This fitting was the elbow from the pressure sensing line. Amazon would have taken the compressor back but we didn't want the chance of receiving another broken compressor. The compressor is very quiet and works well so far. Great Product - shipping bad - However, I learned my lesson ording big (HEAVY) products on-line. Our box was clearly tossed around or banged into during shippment which broke off the air filter assembly that screws into the cylinder head. To avoid the HUGE hassle of returning/shipping the compressor to Amazon, incurring shipping charges that were initially free when I ordered the compressor, lugging it back to UPS, and waiting for who knows how long for a replacement, I contacted Mikita and got a replacement part directly from them. Great compressor, but check the box thouroughly before signing for delivery! - After working with a friend's older version of this compressor for the last eight months, I decided to splurge and get my own. If this compressor is anything like the older model, it's going to last forever. It looks like someone must've dropped it, and from a pretty good height! One of the legs was bent about 2 inches, so the compressor would rock when set down. Fortunately, the compressor itself (external tubes and gauges and whatnot) are all fine. It's annoying, but I don't want to go through the exchange process and be without air for another two weeks.
The startup process is fairly simple. There are two plastic plugs on the compressor that need to come out. One covers the oil filler, and one covers the air intake port. You replace the plug on the air intake port (topmost plug) with the included air filter, and you replace the oil filler plug with the included oil cap. Before you run it for the first time, fill it (with the included oil) until the oil line is midway in the window. Then, open the air release valve at the very bottom of the air tank and run the compressor for 20 minutes. Check the oil level periodically, of course!
On a related note, I also bought the Campbell Hausfeld MP520010AV air tool accessory kit to get me started.
