Do It Yourselfer's Compressor - This is a compressor for the serious Do-It-Yourselfer. Bought one several months ago and have used it for some remodeling projects. It's oil-less, meaning low maintenance, but requires a dedicated electrical source. The protective cage works well and is well balanced. It is a bit on the heavy side, and it's loud, so wear ear plugs if you're running it in an enclosed area.

found in CPACK200's reviews:
ready to go! - i received the package and openedit and pluged it in and used it right away. I have used 3 different nail guns with it and all worked easily. It could use a wider axle with wheels to make more stable, but will try longer bolts,an this should work.It would be nice if it had an drail valve on bottob or at least a plug.
Home User - bought unit for use around the house and haven't had any problems with it. received unit with no cracks, dents, bends, or scratchs. instructions are only complaint but being retired military i read between the lines and got everything working. nailer works great no hitches. compressor does a variety of jobs around the house from driving nails to inflating an air bed. very satisfied and would recomend this unit to others.
Shipping seems to be a problem - I received my nailer/compressor combo today. I read the reviews on this tool before I ordered it, and several people reported shipping damage. The foot rest on the end of the compressor tank was bent. A few good whacks with a hammer straightened it out, but Bostitch needs to address their packing procedures.
The documentation and instructions were pretty skimpy (make that real skimpy), but I was nailing in about 15 minutes, and so far the nailer works fine.

Rama Timmons - I bought this compressor about 2 months ago and have had nothing but trouble with it. The Hitachi compressor I got first was broken in shipping and did not work so I sent it back. The next compressor arrived and it to was broken in shipping, but I decided to keep it since it was still working. Now that I have used it for over a month I've decided that my Ten Year old Compressor from Montgomery Ward believe it or not works much better. The Hitachi compressor takes forever to get up to pressure and if you are sheating a roof or a floor it will not keep up with even one nail gun. Even framing walls with only one nail gun the compressor can not keep up I have to go back with a hammer and finish driving 50% of all the nails. Do not buy this compressor unless the only thing you plan on doing is making bird houses with it!.

More High Ratings - Excellent tool combo pack! Looks like it's already been said, but I'll add to the positive comments by saying that the nailer is very light weight and fires flawlessly. The compressor works very well and is remarkably air tight (held full charge for more than two weeks). I've also used the compressor with a framing nailer and it kept up with no problems. I am very happy with the purchase of this combo. Great deal for name brand quality!.
Works Good - I remodeled my basement a while back and this is the compressor I used to do the framing. It kept up ok with the framing nailer that I borrowed. The compressor wasn't able to keep up with my die grinder though. I used the die grinder to prepare my gutters on my house for painting, and I would have to stop quite often to let the compressor catch up. For little jobs like what I used mine for, however, this compressor will work just fine.
This Combo will have your project nailed down !!! - It works like a dream. I've shot mails from 1" - 21/2" with out one jam. It never failed to fire properly even in Oak. The nose piece make it easy to get the nails just were you want them everytime. And with the depth adjustment on the gun you can quickly change settings. It a great value and for those woodworkes who want a air nailer this combo should fit the bill. I sure there are those who may feel that an air nailer is just for those to lazy to nail by hand there not if you've ever made small boxes and tryed nailing them together you know it not and easy task. With me PC FN250. Porter-Cable has really out done shown thay are still the leader when it comes to great tools.

Badly designed pressure switch - The pressure switch occasionally will not shut of the compressor. The only way to shut it off is to pull the electrical plug from the wall. There is no consistancy in the amount of pressure it builds. Fifty percent of the time the safety valve blows. I phoned the service center and they said they may not have the parts for this compressor and may have to order them. I had a CH for 7 years without a problem.
Great Little Air Squeezer!!! - This little Porter Cable compressor is all (and more) that I expected it to be. It pumps the 4-gallon tank to 125 psi in less than a minute, and then cycles automatically as the pressure drops. The output should be more than adequate for my needs to run an air ratchet, blow nozzle, hand sandblaster and pressurize a small auxilliary portable tank. The order arrived ahead of schedule with no damage via UPS. Works like a champ, the price was right and Amazon's Free SuperSaver Shipping made this a no-brainer bargain.

The gauges, regulator and hose coupling on this model are out in the open, and exposed to potential damage if used at a busy construction site. For my application, however, the exposed fittings are not an issue.
A good compressor to get you started. - I shopped extensively for a light duty compressor based on the following criteria: price, weight, and flow rating. I found the PC 3HP pancake style to be the best model that fit my needs. It features the same motor and compressor as the PC 3HP twin stack model but is $40 cheaper and about 10 pounds lighter. I also thought it would be a little more compact and easier to move around. Given the twin stack has a few nice features, like dual quick connect fittings and a gage console, but I just didn't think I would need them.

As far as flow capacity the PC 3HP is one of the best considering its price and weight. It's rated at 5. It is an oil free design, so it can operate on uneven ground. The oil splash designs are supposed to have greater durability but for my infrequent use it should be just fine.

Other than that what can I say - it pumps air. Supposedly it runs at higher pressure (135 psi max) than its competitors. This gives it the reserve of a 5 gallon tank, even though it is physically 4 gal. It is fairly loud, but I haven't listened to many other models to make an educated comparison.

Overall I think it's pretty sweet. Especially after I drove my first nail with the PC finish nailer I bought to go along with it.

*** One year+ update ***

I have now owned this unit for over one year and am pleased to report zero problems. I have used it quite a bit for high air flow operations, such as blowing off dust / debris and even running an air chisel to bust up concrete. It often runs full time for 5-10 minutes and is able to keep up with air demand. If you are going to be regularly moving the compressor around, spend the extra. bucks and get the one with the roll cage. I actually ran a compressed air line out to my garage, so the compressor can stay put in the basement and avoid potential damage from moving it.

*** 4-year update ***

I have owned this compressor for 4+ years now and am still completely satisfied. I did have one problem with a leaky pressure regulator. I was able to fix it a few times by disassembling the regulator housing but eventually stripped one of the connectors. I used a hand held, air chisel to break up the mortar joints. The compressor was operating at 100% duty cycle for 10-15 minutes at a stretch, but couldn't quite keep up with continuous use of the air chisel. I figured it was time to buy a bigger model. As an last ditch experiment, I bought a 10 gal portable air storage tank, some extra quick disconnect fittings and rigged up a reserve tank in parallel with the 4 gallon PC tank. (yes, I am an engineer) My thinking was that I would run the crap out of my little PC and if it bit the dust, that was my excuse to buy a new compressor. I am amazed to say the PC compressor ran flawlessly for the entire chimney demo and still works fine today.

Very good - with provisos - Just received my M990 compressor after my local small engine repair shop recommended it over others. Good news is seems to be everything it was perported to be. Plenty of power, great pressure and set up for two air hoses right out of the box. Bad news is that it only ran for about ten minutes before I had a problem with it. Seems an internal pressure valve must have gotten a piece of trash in it and it wouldn't release enough pressure to allow the motor to restart. provided excellent assistance, bottom line however is that it needed to go to the local repair shop for warranty work. Would also note that when they recommend a 20 amp circuit for this unit, they mean it. On my 15 amp circuit, lights dim each time it starts up. Also, the unit is about at the limit of what one would reasonably call portable. It's heavy and awkward to carry. Made me almost regret not getting a wheeled unit.

First Impressions... - It only took 3-days for my new compressor to arrive at my doorstep! And best of all, the shipping was free! I immediately unpacked the unit and checked it over. It was in perfect condition. I followed the manufacturer's advice and went through the 15-minute break-in period leaving the tank drain valve open while the motor was running. When I shut the valve after 15-minutes of run time, it only took a few seconds to fill the twin tanks to 130 p. Although I haven't used my compressor yet, first impressions are everything. This unit is compact, relatively light weight, fairly quiet, and fills up extremely quick! I can't wait to attach my air nailer and get to work!!!.
Great General Purpose Portable Compressor - I bought this compressor to run nail guns, air sand and spray paint. It is much more compact than other units of similar capacity. There is an on/off switch located behind the main control that will turn off the unit if you leave it plugged in.) The tank pressure gauge is just behind it.

The main panel has a working pressure gauge with a pressure adjustment knob next to it. If you work at lower pressures, the unit will not cycle as often. It is also handy to limit the pressure to safe levels for your various air tools.

You do have to "break it in" before working with it; just open the drain valve and let it run for 15 minutes. Shut it off, close the valve and turn it back on; you're ready for action! The unit really is portable, especially with the well balanced carry handle protruding from the top. I can easily carry it with one hand from the tank side.

I plug it directly into a 20 amp circuit and have had no problems with breakers popping. I wired my shop area with 12/3 to carry enough current for power tools. The unit does not stay on too long when it cycles, so the noise is not really a problem. It is not as loud as large upright compressors, but it does make a fair amount of noise, although not as much as I expected.

It will keep up with nailers and other "burst" applications without cycling too often. I use it with a Souix air sander and it does run longer when I am working. I don't think it would keep up with two continuous flow tools. Painting on furniture sized projects is no problem. If you take on a tractor trailer, get a bigger compressor.

Overall, this is an outstanding unit with few limitations for the average user. I also consider it an great value, given its capacity and well thought out design. It will be a great addition to your shop. (It will also inflate tires!).
portercable compressor - This is a very good air compressor. I run multi-equipment from my air compressor every day. I will buy another porter cable compressor just like the one I have now but it still works like brand new so I dont see having to replace it in the near future.
Plenty of Power to Offer...but it needs plenty, too. - This is a nice tight little machine which should have plenty of power
to run two hoses at one time, and the professional HVLP spray painting
gun I plan to use with it in my small general contracting business,
BUT, it will need the right power source. I tried the compressor on an
undedicated 15 amp circuit, and it immediately blew the switch every
time. I called Porter Cable and they admitted this 3HP motor NEEDS A
DICATED 15AMP CIRCUIT (with nothing else on the circuit to compete).
I also learned (the hard way, of course) that if you are using the
compressor with a 50' extension chord (with too high a guage) on a 20
amp circuit, the pump will not get enough electricity to pump air
after cutting-in when the tank pressure drops to 110 psi (the
specified cut-in pressure) - the pump will start pumping, but quickly
stop and you'll hear the motor straining until it blows the 20 amp
circuit, too. Porter Cable told me that if I plan to use even a 20
amp circuit with an extension chord, I need to use a 12 (preferable
10) gauge extention chord (ideally 25' rather than 50'), or the pump
won't get enough juice to cut-in properly and refill the tanks. It's
cheaper, my new Porter Cable friends say, to buy more air hose than
the right gauge extention chord - Ah, such knowledge I'm gaining.
Sadly, the compressor arrived with an air intake filter housing badly
bent downward (done apparently at the factory, as the box from Amazon
wasn't damaged), so I couldn't remove the air filter. AND, the drain
valve (to drain water from the bottom of the tank) would not
completely close allowing lots of air to excape from the tank. In my
chats with an Amazon tool sales rep, and later with a Porter Cable
tech rep (to help me unravel the compressor's electrical-needs
mysteries), both Companies quickly and nicely insisted on sending me a
new air intake filter housing and a new drain valve (I guess I'm
getting two of each?) - no questions asked. The machine is fairly
loud, but it only takes my pump about 6 seconds to refill the tanks
from the 110 psi cut-in pressure to the specified 135 psi cut-out
pressure. I figure the noise level goes hand-in-hand with the added
power this compressor offers - power I think I need. Suggestions: the
manufacturer needs to tighten quality controls inspection of the
product prior to boxing & shipping, and the editorial reviewers
need to "call a spade a spade" in write-ups on this tool's
power needs.

The output pressure valve is convenient and easy to use so you don't have to spend a lot of time trying to set the proper air pressure for the tool you are using. The 6025 is also great because of its portability. All in all, this is a great compressor that can handle a large variety of jobs. Be sure to read manual before operating the machine it offers very good advice that should be followed.

Excellent Customer Service - I ordered the Porter-Cable CFFC350A Clipped Head Framer Combo Kit for a DIY shed building project. In the long run the price came out the same but I got myself a Delta 10" tablesaw, 16' extension ladder(fiberglass), and this framing gun compressor kit.
I recieved it on monday, feb. 9th and after opening the box I noticed the compressor was damaged. I recieved it today and it works great.
I'd recommend this compressor and framing gun to any DIY person.
My next purchase will be a Porter-Cable Finishing Gun to help with the remodeling and I'll definitely be purchasing it from Amazon.
