Porter-Cables solved the compressor mobility problem on two levels with this tool. First, and most impressively, its got a two-port removable console for remote air regulation and higher air pressure right where youre working. And the compressoritself has wheels and an extension handle, making life easier on you.
Lets face it: This compressors big, heavy and loud, with a max psi of 150. And we love it. You can run three or four guns at once off it with a splitter and have no air supply problems whatsoever. Its built tough for the job site (and the trips to and from), with a full roll cage to shield your pump and motor. And last but not least, its oil-free and therefore maintenance-free.5 gallon, oil-free contractor style compressor is packed with features. It starts with the oil-free pump which is designed for durability and long use. It also packs 150 PSI in the tank for longer tool run time. The high-flow air regulator and two-port removable console are winning combinations for contractors. Having the ability to remove the console gives the user the opportunity to remote air regulation and gain higher air pressure closer to the job site. Include mobility kit for increased portability on the jobsite.

found in C3151's reviews: Dependable and... dependable - The first unit I purchased had one of the wheels significantly out of alignment. Way too much play in it. I've been using this compressor for about 3 months now. Nailing, stapling, and air cleaning. The wheels and extension handle are a monstrous plus--the unit is quite heavy. I love the concept of being able to detach the valves' console in order to bring it closer to the work place (need to purchase another hose for this ability, however). The pressure, for the most part, maintains its equillibrium. What I don't particularly care for about the unit is the airflow adjustment valve. It's disappointingly cheaply made. and I don't trust it for the compressor's duraction. Sometimes when I pull the plastic valve out (to adjust the PSI), I'm uncertain as to whether I unlocked it or not. Same thing when pushing it back in.
05 update: I noticed one reviewer griped about this tank's compressor turning on frequently while using an air wratchet or something. that's an unfair assessment. Using such tools would cause the same reaction on any tank with the same air gallon capacity. Good Compressor - The first one of these I got tripped a 20A breaker about every third time the compressor kicked on. I made a call and dropped it off at a service center and within a week they sent a new one to my home. Good service! It is kind of noisy and a bit cumbersome to handle, but itworks great and service means a lot!. way to go portercable - This the best compressor on the market it keeps up with 2 framing nailers with no problem all day this machine is for constuction not for paint gun with high volume you need a bigger tank 10 gallion or bigger. My Dad's friends were amazed on how well it kept with my DAD's 2 FC 350 FRAMING GUNS RUNNING THEM AT 90 PSI all day long. The only problem we had with is setting the psi,it was set after one or two try's itworks real well.

found in CPLDC2541S's reviews: Too loud too flimsy - I bought this compressor a few day ago. Well, it's quieter than 5.5 hp oilfree compressor I used to have, but still too loud for me. Also gauges do not have any protection and on/off switch is just a joke. Otherwise itworks just fine. Takes to much power and is too loud (also flimsy switch) - This compressor absolutely will NOT run on 15 amps. Either the motor bogs down and won't run or it will pop the breaker. This makes this compressor almost usless for me because I can never find anywhere to plug it in. And if you DO find a 20 amp circiut to run it on forget about running any other tools on that circuit.
Also it is overly loud. I was just working in a basement at the same time as a guy that had a Hitachi compressor and his was less than HALF as loud.
I have NEVER been disappointed with anything from PC. The guy helping me tripped over the air hose and it caught on the little shutoff lever. Now my compressor won't even shut off. If you leave it run it will pump up to 175 psi and then blow the relief valve. And I now have to go plug it in to make it turn on since the switch is broken off.
This tool is NOT made to be used at a construction site. I'm seriously thinking about just leaving this for the garbage man and buying the DeWalt Emglo compressor. I ended up buying a CastAiraircompressor. CastAir is not a commercial brand, but the factory where they are made is about 2 miles from my house in Chaska, MN. These compressors were only recently made available to non-commercial applications (previously they specialized in huge compressors used in body shops, etc. It's quiet, powerful, and SOLID as a ROCK!!! A REAL contractor grade compressor for the same amount as I paid for this PC. I have NO relationship or incentive to recommend CastAir other than I'm a very satisfied customer. Check them out if you want a REALLY great compressor.

found in CPLDC2540S's reviews: A- compressor except for the regulator - I've been searching for a portable compressor for a couple of months now and near the end came up with three to chose from: the Emglo 55155, a Hitachi dual stack and this PC.
After looking at the reviews here, elsewhere and comments from a friend about his Emglo, I decided to go with the 2540S. My requirements were portability (60 lbs or so), oil lubed, at least 4. Other compressors did meet these, but what draw me was the oil lube system that permits you to use it on uneven surfaces. This should be the norm! Other good things are excellent build (USA), non-ball type draincock (ice can ruin a brass ball), pressure release valve (to lower the pressure before you open draincock that can shoot projectiles), caged, not too bad noise level about 83 dbA (noisy street), lower running 1.5max) to not trip the circuit breakers, filtered intake (not output though) for longer motor life, shrouded motor for airflow from fan and good manual. The regulator unit is actually the weak link here, made of plastic and from Taiwan. Mine leaked just like the last reviewer had, so I opened it from the front and saw that the valves inside weren't centered to each other. The small metal cup also bit part of the plastic grommet retainer. Fixed all those, put a little non-petroleum lubed and it worked. The only thing I added at the universal coupler end is a water/air filter. It's at an angle but removable. It's been good so far.

found in CFFN250NR's reviews: Great Tool/Good Value - Works great, no leaks, no problems. Contrary to the other reviews, I don't find the compressor to be too loud. Good Product, Great Deal - Though these are reconditioned tools, you wouldn't know it by appearances. The compressorworks as advertised & looks brand new. Excellent value - I've been using my PC reconditioned compressor for about 2 weeks and itworks great. Somewhat loud when reaching full pressure but it does so in about 3-4 minutes. I leave it pressured all day and the gauge doesn't move a hair. There's no way to tell it reconditioned except for the plain box it came in and an "R" stamped into some of the plastic parts.

Negatives: - When it stops automatically after inflating one item (such as a tire), it must be turned off and back on to inflate another item, or to increase pressure setting and continue filling. - the air hose is fairly short. - The noise it makes is quite loud, though not as loud as some I've heard. - fitting the cords and hose back into the storage compartment is not easy. - the valve adapter is plastic, not metal, and doesn't seem sturdy. Itworks so far, however.

found in MAC5200's reviews: Worried, distressed, & troubled - Not - turned out awesome!!! - Just received my Mac5200 unit and happy to report that all my worries concerning shipping damages were euphorically put to rest. I wanted to order this unit for some time but kept deferring purchase because of the damage reports. My unit was shipped out of Allentown, PA via DHL - that's right DHL (I still can't believe it). Although it was boxed in cardboard both the box and unit were undamaged. There were two minor blemishes to the paint on the tank but nothing to even be concerned with. Kudos to DHL - box was in showroom condition - great job. Now to the unit - awesome!!! A container of compressor oil was included - filled the oil reserve and went to "initial startup procedure" on page 10 of owner's manual. Was somewhat confused by Step 1 - open the "air receiver's drain value". What the %^*& is a air receiver's drain value??? I know what the Drain Valve or Cock at the bottom of the tank is - but was I missing something? A fast call to Makita's service center confirmed to open drain valve on tank for the no-load break in. Unit is heavier than appears and the noise level is impressively quietier than expected (at least in my garage for the break-in period). I think I'll be very pleased with this compressor if everything remains as positive as the initial impressions. My initial impressions are ALL favorable. Just wished I hadn't waited so long or worried so much. Good specs for the price range - I chose this portable unit because of the 6.8 amp draw, collapsible cart, oil lubed pump, good air filter and ball valve drain. Did not find many other compressors in this price range with those specs and did not want to pay $600+ for a monster. The manual says it has a 50% duty cycle so if you need a compressor that will run without stopping look elsewhere.
On arrival the box had major rips and crushed areas fairly typical of my experiences of UPS shipment with heavy items. However, the unititself was in good shape. The wheels seem to be ok, if they break they are easy to replace or Makita may have changed their construction. The noise level was what I would expect, maybe a little less than the 6. The cut in/ cut out pressures were a little low so a quick adjustment took care of that. I have not yet put the unit through the day to day punishment of jobsite use but I expect it will still be running strong years from now.

Remember when you were a kid on Christmas morning, with a pile of new toys to play with--but no batteries? Well, Porter-Cable's not going to let that happen to you again. Here they've packaged their hard-working 18-gauge brad nailer with its power source--a 15 amp, 120-volt, 6-gallon compressor driven by a 2-horsepower oil-free motor. Fill up the nailer with standard 18-gauge brads from 3/4 inch to 2 inches long, hook up, and you're ready to install baseboards, chair rails, moldings, even make quick work of those wooden craft items like country shelves and vegetable bins. The kit comes with quick connects, 25 feet of 150 psi air hose and thread sealing tape. It's the perfect combination at a really good price.
found in CFBN200A's reviews: nsh3211 - This works great holds pressure when not in use. Good deal for the money - Positives: works very well, plenty of power to drive nails into hardwood, doesn't split the wood (even at the edge of a board), it's consistent in depth of drive, doesn't mar the surface, and the price is good. Negatives: none other than the noise of the compressor, but hey it's a power tool what do you expect. A happy owner!! - I bought this kit because I wanted a larger compressor than I had, one with a tank, and a brad gun. I came upon this and bought it. The compressorworks flawlessly. My only complaint (be it a minor one for me) is that the thing sounds like a jackhammer. It is LOUD!!! I mostly use it in my garage so I ended up puting it in a shed outside and running a hose into the garage. Now I barely hear it.

The DeWALT D55168 is heavy-duty, 200 PSI, 15 gallon, vertical portable, 120 volt electric, workshop compressor built to stand up to the needs to the most demanding workshop end user. Ideal for automotive and equipment maintenance, auto restoration, and woodworking applications, the D55168 can easily operate high air consumptions air tools such as: impact wrenches, ratchet wrenches, paint sprayers, and air sanders. With a pump that produces 5.4 SCFM (Actual) @ 90 PSI the D55168 has the ability to recover quickly after its initial tank charge has run down. In addition, the D55168 features a typical robust DeWALT design that features a roll cage and metal panel that protect the compressors critical components. The compact design makes the unit easy to move and store.
found in D55168's reviews: Dewalt Compressor D55168 200 psi - The item was in excellent shape. The reason I'm giving it a four star rating is that it is not as quiet as I though it was going to be; however, it is much quieter than the old Sears model it replaced. The second reason is the drain valve on the bottom can not be opened completely unless you prop up the front feet two inches, which is a little dangerous since it throws the unit slightly off balance - poorly engineered!. They should have made the wheels a little bigger or placed the tank slightly higher.

Designed to be sturdy yet lightweight, the compressor weighs only 53.3 pounds for increased portability.
found in D55151BN's reviews: Good Compressor/Nailer combo - I'm a homeowner with a good bit of fixing up to do, including some new trim and crown molding. I bought this compressor mainly to run nailers for those jobs, as well as other around the house usage.
I had read that oil-lubed compressors were quieter and lasted longer, so I was looking for an oil-lubed motor in particular. I shopped around quite a bit, and was tempted by the PC pancake/nailer combos (oilless), but settled on this instead.
I was somewhat dissapointed by the amount of noise generated by the compressor. It is a bit louder than I had expected, but quieter than my Dad's PC pancake. The unit I received also has something rattling around in the top tank. I'm not sure what it is yet, but it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the unit, and I didn't want to send it back for repairs, since I have a bit of a deadline on some of my jobs. The box it was shipped in was very beat up when I got it.
The rattling bit is the main reason for giving the compressor a 4 instead of a 5.
The compressorworks very well, and I'm quite happy with it. It comes up to pressure quickly, and has an easily adjustable pressure switch, which allows you to adjust the cut-out and cut-in pressure. It seems fairly well made, and all the components are pretty easy to get to if repairs are needed for some reason.
The brad nailer is also pretty nice, although I think I like my Hitachi nailer a bit better. The Hitachi is all metal, whereas the Dewalt has a good bit of plastic. The Dewalt is very light though, and certainly works well, so I have no complaints. I've used it to install toekick in the kitchen, and some molding for a new entry door, as well as a few other jobs, and it worked well for all of them.
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. At the time I bought it, Amazon was running a very nice $75 off $300 promotion, and also offering a free air hose, so I feel that I got a great deal on a very good combo. Slow starting motor - Great design on this unit and it will fit nicely into my plans. I enjoy the portability and compact size. However I do have a problem with my machine as it's motor will not function on a cold morning outside.! It will chug a few seconds before it pops it's circuit breaker. Repeating this drill several times it sometimes works and sometimes not. It will also blow the house circuit breakers(20a service)if you persist. Bringing it inside or putting it into a heated car cures it's starting problem. Once running it a real jewel and fairly quiet. This is a most annoying situation and it's currently in the shop. Despite the Dewalt label this is a Chinese built unit and have seen the motor/unit in other low end machines.
