found in CFFN250NR's reviews: PorterCableCompressor - I used the compressor to install an oak hardwood floor. Great value, looks new to me! - The compressor and tools look completely new, there is no indication anywhere that they are not. The compressor is very lightweight, so you can carry it to the point of use instead of running a hundred feet of hose. It's a typically noisy pancakecompressor, and I don't see it as a heavy-use unit (like for running framing guns), particularly since it is oiless. A pair of earplugs might help keep you sane, though. Quality control issue - I just received a reconditioned PorterCable combo and was very disappointed. The regulator was clearly defective it blew air through the housing.
One Year Warranty Supports use of all brad and finish nailers and moderate use of framing and roofing nailers High-flow regulator allows more work at higher pressures 3 hp induction motor for quieter operation High-pressure technology provides more usable air for longer run time
found in CPF23400P's reviews: Good Quality, Great Service - There are a lot of pancakecompressors on the market, but this one stands out for two reasons. Second, the PorterCable service organization. If you're *anywhere* near a medium sized or larger city, spare parts and repair are just a phone call away.
For the remodeler working alone, or the handman looking for a small compressor for the shop, this machine is an excellent chice. Great Little Air Squeezer!!! - This little PorterCablecompressor is all (and more) that I expected it to be. The output should be more than adequate for my needs to run an air ratchet, blow nozzle, hand sandblaster and pressurize a small auxilliary portable tank. A better choice for that kind of a work environment would be the 3HP enclosed, stacked-tank model offered by PorterCable. Maybe a good compressor, but beware of shipping - I ordered my P-C 3HP/4GAL compressor from Amazon, and their tool supplier, Tool Crib, shipped the unit to me via UPS. When I unpacked the compressor there was a broken piece of plastic in the bottom of the box.
I took the compressor to the local Porter-Cable service center and they tell me the boxes the P-C compressors come in are NOT designed to handle the rigorous treatment of UPS shipping. The compressor is very heavy and the support inside the box is just flimsy cardboard, so the unit will shift alot during UPS shipment.
Be advised about this shipping problem with this compressor. Tool Crib should know better than to ship these heavy units in flimsy boxes! Luckily the local Porter-Cable service center is willing to fix it under warranty!. Badly designed pressure switch - The pressure switch occasionally will not shut of the compressor. I called PorterCable to send me a new one and they wouldn't. I phoned the service center and they said they may not have the parts for this compressor and may have to order them. Poor Engineering - Air will leak from the threads of the nipple (as was the case for me) or worse. Pancakecompressors due to their top heavy nature can and do rollover, and if this unit rolls onto the gauge side, sooner or later your going to have a major problem. I discovered this design flaw when I plugged my brand new compressor in and a rush of air shot out where the gauge nipple screws to the tank. The compressor was improperly packaged. There was no extra packing foam or otherwise to prevent the compressor from banging side ways. A good compressor to get you started. - I shopped extensively for a light duty compressor based on the following criteria: price, weight, and flow rating. I found the PC 3HP pancake style to be the best model that fit my needs. It features the same motor and compressor as the PC 3HP twin stack model but is $40 cheaper and about 10 pounds lighter.
Other than that what can I say - it pumps air. It is fairly loud, but I haven't listened to many other models to make an educated comparison. I have used it quite a bit for high air flow operations, such as blowing off dust / debris and even running an air chisel to bust up concrete. It often runs full time for 5-10 minutes and is able to keep up with air demand. If you are going to be regularly moving the compressor around, spend the extra. I actually ran a compressed air line out to my garage, so the compressor can stay put in the basement and avoid potential damage from moving it.
*** 4-year update ***
I have owned this compressor for 4+ years now and am still completely satisfied. I used a hand held, air chisel to break up the mortar joints. The compressor was operating at 100% duty cycle for 10-15 minutes at a stretch, but couldn't quite keep up with continuous use of the air chisel. As an last ditch experiment, I bought a 10 gal portable air storage tank, some extra quick disconnect fittings and rigged up a reserve tank in parallel with the 4 gallon PC tank. (yes, I am an engineer) My thinking was that I would run the crap out of my little PC and if it bit the dust, that was my excuse to buy a new compressor. I am amazed to say the PC compressor ran flawlessly for the entire chimney demo and still works fine today.

This 2HP (peak), 4 gallon, oil-lube, pancake design. contractor style compressor is packed with features. The High-flo air regulator and 2-port removable console are winning combinations for contractors. Having the ability to remove the console gives the user the opportunity to remote air regulation and gain higher air pressure closer to the job site.
found in C2550's reviews: Prone to shipping damage, works well when repaired - I have been using this PorterCablecompressor for about four months to drive brads, staples and micro-pins for various kitchen cabinet making projects.
This model appears to be the same as the PorterCable C2540 with the addition of an integral hand-truck. The description provided by Amazon is incorrect as this model does not have a detachable two port console but a single fixed air outlet. My compressor arrived in its thick cardboard box with two of the mounting tabs for the shroud broken off the cast metal main housing and the plastic fan broken in half. Once repaired I must say that I have not had a problem with its operation. Average noise and vibration and my repairs have not rebroken.
I Don't think that I would buy this one again and PorterCable seems to be moving away from this shrouded design with its newest models.

This Porter-Cable 2-horsepower, 6-gallon pancakecompressor transports easily but has plenty of capacity and power--enough to support heavy use of brad and finish nailers and moderate use of framing nailers. Features include a high-flow regulator, an easy-to-read air pressure gauge, automatic thermal overload protection, an industrial-style quick-connect body in the air outlet, and a long-life motor with replaceable brushes. The compressor weighs 32 pounds and has a handle built into the motor housing, so it's relatively portable. This Porter-Cable is as convenient and easy to use as any compressor out there, and it's just about ideal for brad and finish nailers that are being used inside people's homes on a regular basis. --Jonathon Tudor

found in CPFAC2600P's reviews: portercablecompressor - I purchased the 6 gallon pancakecompressor in OCT 03, did not use it until Jan 04, used for (2) months,it is extremely noisy, heats up, stops working after 15-29 minutes of use. Little compressor is full of hot air - I've owned this compressor for about 1 year. I spoke to the PorterCable rep at the Columbus wood show last month. By his own admission these little oilless pancake jobs are junk. Great Little Unit - I bought my PorterCablepancakecompressor over 3 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. Once pneumatic, you never go back - The Porter-Cable 2HP 6-gallon pancakecompressor is a reasonably powerful and reasonably portable aircompressor. I only recently purchased one but I am already sold on pneumatic tools, which the PC 6-gallon compressor operates surprisingly well. Although many pneumatic tools, such as air hammers, drills, and sanders, consume quite a bit of air (generally in the neighborhood of 5 CFM at 90 PSI), I have found that my PC compressor does just fine with its modest 2. My one complaint is that the motor and compressor are a bit louder than I expected. Then again, the noise of the compressor is hardly noticeable above the din of an air hammer, so I'm not sure it really matters.
If you enjoy using power tools and you have not yet experienced the pleasures of pneumatic gizmos, you should consider purchasing a small but serious compressor like the PC 2HP 6-gallon pancake. It's truly amazing how versatile compressed air is; basically any tool that runs on electricity also comes in a pneumatic version (well, except for arc welders).
But be warned! If you take the plunge into pneumatic tools, there is an endless stream of items you will find yourself purchasing: air tool lubricants and cleaning kits, in-line oilers, air hoses and gauges, quick connectors, air filters, oil-water separators, Teflon tape, universal air hose joints, air manifolds, blowguns with assorted nozzles, etc.)
One odd thing I've noticed is that the PC 6-gallon compressor is virtually identical to the Craftsman 6-gallon compressor, right down to the paint job. PorterCablecompressor - I have had no problems with the compressor. PorterCable CPFAC2600P Compressor - Pro: Great little compressor for mobile and small shop use. I use it very often to run air nailers for doing molding on the house and back out to the garage to run a paint/finish sprayer. bad compressor - I purchased a combo pack, 1 month after the warranty ran out the compressor stopped working, I took it to a locate service center , which stated motor barins where gone and it would be $240 to replace, it was cheaper to buy a new one. When I emailed portercable , it took a long time for a response , by then i had bought a new ( different make)compressor. Solid little compressor, won't pop your breakers - I previously owned the PorterCable 135psi, 3hp compressor but when I moved to my new house, with slightly low voltage, it was nearly impossible to use without popping breakers every time the beast fired up. power but not reliable - I bought this compressor for it's light weight, portability and compact power all of which it lived up to until it broke within 40 hours of use. After calling PorterCable they proved to be less than useful telling me that I would have to drive the unit an hour to get fixed under warrenty and were unsympathetic to my situation. FINALLY BOUGHT A COMPRESSOR - I ALWAYS WANTED A COMPRESSOR FOR MY OWN AND JUST RESENTLY I BORROWED MY NEIGHBORS COMPRESSOR TO FILL UP MY BOAT TRAILER TIRES WITH AIR. I LIKED THE PORTER-CABLECOMPRESSOR THAT I BORROWED SO MUCH THAT I WENT ON LINE LOOKING TO GET ONE FOR MYSELF. AFTER LOOKING ON LINE FOR THE BEST PRICE, I ORDERED THE COMPRESSOR THROUGH AMAZON. I love this litte work horse! - This Compressor is a great value, you will not find a better one for this price.I have used this compressor with a finish nailer and have had no down time at all.The brad gun alone sells for a 100 bucks! The combo pack has everything you need to start driving brads right out of the box,Thanks portercable for a great machine at an attractive price.Everyone can now afford to become an "airhead" Once you do you will never go back to a hammer again. Good compressor for a good price - I've owned a large compressor for years and needed something that can easily be ported anywhere - the large one is nice, but combersome for small jobs. Stick with the brand names like PorterCable - you get what you pay for.
This small compressor is actually used a lot more than my original compressor.
Spraying paint I haven't tried and probably would not work well - it just doesn't have the air delivery. That is what my large compressor is used for.
It is an oil-less compressor - so it is relatively noisy but noise means power, no? :) . not reliable - At first it lived up to PorterCable's reputation: worked great and was moderately priced.
The bundled packages they have now with this model (the compressor with a brad nailer and finish nailer) are very appealing price-wise, but don't be suckered as I and the many others above me have.

Ideal for onsite trim work, architectural woodwork, and casework installation, this combo kit from Porter-Cable includes a finish nailer, brad nailer, narrow crown stapler and compressor.
First, the compressor: The unit blasts out an impressive 150 maximum psi for driving more nails than traditional 135 psi compressors. Running on standard household current, this 120-volt electric compressor also cranks out 2.6 standard cubic feet per minute at 90 psi for quick compressor recovery time and faster nailing. Weighing just 34 pounds, the compressor is easy to transport from project to project. And, two quick-connect couplers let the compressor power two nail guns to at the same time. The Porter-Cable Narrow Crown Stapler (NS100) has a built-in depth-of-drive adjustment for precise countersinking of staples. Olson
