Arrived damaged II1 - As with my first experience the second Makita air compressor arrived in the same condition. This is a design flaw in the product. The elbow sticks out away from the compressor and it is very fragile and shears off with any type of contact from anything. Can you imagine every time the compressor were to hit anything or tip over the elbow would shear off. Amazon was slow to ship and I got an email that said they were having trouble shipping the compressor to me. I don't know what kind of trouble but the compressor was sent to me several days after the initial time for shipping. They are going to come and pick up the compressor and refund my money after they get the compressor. *Great Product* - shipping bad - However, I learned my lesson ording big (HEAVY) products on-line. Our box was clearly tossed around or banged into during shippment which broke off the air filter assembly that screws into the cylinder head. To avoid the HUGE hassle of returning/shipping the compressor to Amazon, incurring shipping charges that were initially free when I ordered the compressor, lugging it back to UPS, and waiting for who knows how long for a replacement, I contacted Mikita and got a replacement part directly from them. Great Product....Bad Manual - A well put together compressor that is wonderful for the weekend warrior. This compressor is well built and should last a long time. I assume that Makita used to ship this item with air filter attached because there is no mention in the manual that you have to install the filter. It is not difficult to perform this procedure, mind you, but it would be nice to have it mentioned in the manual under the section on setting up the compressor**.

B) Over-built compressor compared to tank size - so cycle times are very short - if using light-duty tools, it doesn't run much anyway. C) No leaks - holds its air pressure seemingly forever when turned off (not that you shouldn't release pressure when done using it). D) The air filter is a miniature version of an old-time car air filter. The glaring exception is the air filter hanging off the side - I can see this part's going to be replaced at some point when I throw it in a truck bed. I must admit I was not to broken harted about it though because I have had my eye on Dewalt's new compressor now for some time. The sleek design, the way it protects its gauges, and its 2 quick conect air ports kept calling me every time I saw this compressor. I was not disapointed!! The unit is a little heavy for a portable compressor at over 60 lbs. Inside a house a compressor's noise can seem to be greatly magnified but this unit seems almost quiet, it runs so smooth. I had a larger compressor for framing but this Dewalt compressor has done so well that I have sold my larger one and rely on just this one. The unit really has no real flaws at all the air drain has a great little lever to drain the tank with, but it does blow out hard if you open it to quick and I am not convinced it drains all the condesation real well. There is a little black breaker on the compressor unit which can be a little dificult to locate and reset, it would be nice if on a newer version Dewalt would move it to the front with the gauges and quick connects. It has triped several time on us if we try and run too many things at a time such as a miter saw, table saw, and the compressor, but for normal use the draw of this compressor seems fine even on a 15amp breaker. To sum it all up this is one really nice complete package compressor!! It is small enough for the little jobs yet tough enough for the more demanding jobs, within reason, remember it is only a 4 gallon, running at less the 15amp, compressor. With Dewalt and Emglo combine you will not go wrong buying this compressor, and unless you get a defective unit which happens with all products from time to time, you will have a compressor that should last a long time. One last suggestion for Dewalt; (this unit is so great you might want to make an oiless version for people "like myself" who tend to be forgetful about stuff like, adding oil!!!).

The box arrived, and when I opened it, I was a little surprised at how little packing material there was - just a box with the compressor inside. This may be a great product, but I'll buy my major hardware purchases locally, so I can return broken products.
