From the Manufacturer
The new MAC700KIT-Hotdog compressor (with AF503 2 Brad Nailer) by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.4 amps to operate. It's easy to see how this unit will out last and out perform everyone else in its class with 3.3CFM @ 90PSI and a lever handled ball valve drain system that will get rid of any condensation build up in the tank. The exclusive finned discharge tubing increases heat dissipation that reduces moisture in the lines and the easily removable cast iron cylinder reduces wear and increases pump life. The heavy duty roll cage construction provides extra protection against the harsh jobsite environments. Packed with our popular AF503 2 Brad Nailer, 25' Hose, fittings and nails, this kit includes everything needed to get started.

I'm Still Waiting
The shipping date for this product states that it ships in 1 to 2 weeks. I have currently been waiting for over 5 weeks for my order to be shipped. I have also been informed that the product has been delayed again and the new estimated shipping date might be another 1 to 2 weeks. This would make my total wait almost 7 weeks for shipping and probably another week for delivery, assuming that it ever gets shipped. I am very disappointed in the estimated shipping date that is posted. If I was given an accurate estimate, I would have ordered a different product. I now feel that I have a certain amount of time invested and feel obligated to wait it out.
High Quality Kit
Came time to finish the lower level of our house and needed one of these gems to get the job done. Initially looked at the Porter Cable CFFN240N but without an oil lubricated pump there was no way I would have that thing running inside my house (Way too Loud). Makita came through big time when they introduced this machine, I can have the thing running next to me and keep a conversation going on my cell phone with no problem. Besides that the CFM on this baby is impressive for its size. 3.3CFM @90PSI. Make sure you note that it is rated at 90PSI because a lot of the other manufacturers rate on a 100PSI level. Best way to buy this is in the kit configuration where you get the brad nailer, hose, fittings, and fasteners for not much more money. This way everything comes to you in one package. If you are looking for a small compact compressor that has the capacity of the medium sized units, this is the one. Don't forget the noise level!!
quiet and effective
I bought the MAC700Kit and am using it to trim out my entire home. The AF503 nailer with 18 guage brads is great for baseboards and quarter round. The only reason this doesn't rate a 5 is that it arrived with the plastic oil cap broken. Appears to have been broken at the factory as it was well packaged.
Recommended Unit
I'm pleased with the Makita MAC700KIT 2 HP Air Compressor Kit I purchased from Amazon.com. I did a fair amount of research and was tempted to purchase a Porter-Cable oil-free kit, but after borrowing a Craftsman (same as Porter-Cable)oil-free compressor from a friend, I decided to go with the oil lubricated Makita primarily because the unit is much quieter but also because I'm convinced the oil-based units have a longer life span. I'm in the finishing stage of installing hardwood floors. I started the Makita unit (after the required 20 minute lubrication "break-in") and asked my wife what she thought about the noise level. "Not to bad since it's outside", she said, the only problem was, it was inside house in the next room over. The oil-free unit sounds like a jack hammer. I recommend the Makita unit, but it took a about 10 days to arrive, so if you want it earlier, pay extra for the shipping.
Very god combo
This is a nice compressor-nailer kit. I just got it yesterday and did the break-in and was running the nailer in 30 minutes.

There are a couple of things that could be improved.

1) The nails and other small items were loose in the package so most of the nailes were out of the small box and broken in small groups.

2) Makita used two small (temporary) plastic plugs, one for the air inlet (it includes a air filter assemply to be screwed into this) and another for the oil filler hole. There is no real plug for the oil filler hole and this little plastic plug won't seal completely so some oil will seep out. I need to get a 1/2" MPT plug.

Overall, a real nice buy.
Exceeded my expectations
I'm very happy with this kit. Shipping was intact, nothing damaged, all parts/accessories included. Setup was straightforward. The compressor isn't crazy loud; it's just another motor running, quite acceptable. It's easy enough to move around my garage, and luggable into the house when the time comes. The nailer works fine, although I haven't used it under productive conditions, just tested it.

I'm most happy that this unit can drive an impact wrench for tire changes. I was concerned that its low CFM (3.3) wouldn't be enough power but to my surprise it's fine! I gambled and purchased a very low end, low CFM, Sears Companion 1/2 in. Impact Wrench, Mfr. model #19127. I can take lug nuts (80 ft./lbs torqued) off a 2002 Honda CR-V and the compressor doesn't kick in until I'm working on the last (fifth) lug nut, and then it only runs for 20 seconds or so. There's no holdup while the unit re-charges to full capacity.

One note about the oil plug: there IS an oil plug that came with my unit to replace the small temporary plastic plug after you fill it with oil. The actual plug is black and about two to three inches long and looks kinduv like a fat dipstick.

All in all, this kit fits my needs very nicely!
