Slow starting motor
Great design on this unit and it will fit nicely into my plans. I enjoy the portability and compact size.
However I do have a problem with my machine as it's motor will not function on a cold morning outside. I'm in Fl.! It will chug a few seconds before it pops it's circuit breaker. Repeating this drill several times it sometimes works and sometimes not. It will also blow the house circuit breakers(20a service)if you persist. Bringing it inside or putting it into a heated car cures it's starting problem. Once running it a real jewel and fairly quiet.
This is a most annoying situation and it's currently in the shop. Despite the Dewalt label this is a Chinese built unit and have seen the motor/unit in other low end machines.
Dewalt Compressor and Brad Nailer Combo- D55151BN
I read about these Dewalt products in a woodworking magazine. The review said the Brad nailer was the easiest to use and overall the best. I would agree with that review. It was very easy to get started and the operation of both the compressor and the nailer was excellent.
Good Compressor/Nailer combo
I'm a homeowner with a good bit of fixing up to do, including some new trim and crown molding. I bought this compressor mainly to run nailers for those jobs, as well as other around the house usage.

I had read that oil-lubed compressors were quieter and lasted longer, so I was looking for an oil-lubed motor in particular. I shopped around quite a bit, and was tempted by the PC pancake/nailer combos (oilless), but settled on this instead.

I was somewhat dissapointed by the amount of noise generated by the compressor. It is a bit louder than I had expected, but quieter than my Dad's PC pancake. The unit I received also has something rattling around in the top tank. I'm not sure what it is yet, but it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the unit, and I didn't want to send it back for repairs, since I have a bit of a deadline on some of my jobs. The box it was shipped in was very beat up when I got it.

The rattling bit is the main reason for giving the compressor a 4 instead of a 5.

The compressor works very well, and I'm quite happy with it. It comes up to pressure quickly, and has an easily adjustable pressure switch, which allows you to adjust the cut-out and cut-in pressure. It seems fairly well made, and all the components are pretty easy to get to if repairs are needed for some reason.

The brad nailer is also pretty nice, although I think I like my Hitachi nailer a bit better. The Hitachi is all metal, whereas the Dewalt has a good bit of plastic. The Dewalt is very light though, and certainly works well, so I have no complaints. I've used it to install toekick in the kitchen, and some molding for a new entry door, as well as a few other jobs, and it worked well for all of them.

All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. At the time I bought it, Amazon was running a very nice $75 off $300 promotion, and also offering a free air hose, so I feel that I got a great deal on a very good combo.
Problem with Amazon
I am writing not to rate the compressor but to tell everybody what happened to me. I placed an order for this compressor and an air house that was free. Waited 2 weeks at home for UPS to receive it. Finally I got tired of waiting , went online to track the item. I found out that UPS returned the item back to the manufacturer (damaged item - reason given) they issued me an instant credit, and I am left with an air house and air chuck (part of the order that was delivered) and NO compressor. The air house was supposed to be free but it is not, I got charged 34$ because I did not buy any compressor. Called Amazon and they could not do anything !!! I am so angry .... First time Amazon messed up BIG TIME ....
Poorly designed shipping configuration
The plastic shroud surrounding the compressor motor has arrived broken on me twice, I am sending it back again. Probably a great deWalt product, but I wouldn't really know because they keep arriving damaged. By placing the plastic housing on the outside of the box with a coil of compressor cable and a sheet of cardboard to protect it. The iron compressor tank should probably be on the outside. I didn't major in packaging, and still I know this.
